You didnt use the same settings they did!

You had 8X AA and Extreme Tessellation.

All he's proving all the time is it's user error not a faulty card...

He should be using games and see how they perform and not play with a brand new card some tech demo benchmarks all time... Seems to me he's more bothered about benchmarks then a card that plays games... Someone want to explain to him that certain benchmarks stress cards harder them actual games ? Also now like magic his benchmarks work, where before they would lock up as he said and supposedly showed on a youtube video... It's all user error from all his posts i'm seeing and the card was even tested by OCUK as working... So he has to look at himself here not the card.

What games do you actually have there ?

Do you

Street Fighter 4

Hawx

Resident Evil 5

Batman Arkham Asylum

etc that has a built in benchmark tool ..

If not download these ... and run them and then compare what you get to what reviews of your card got.

Hahaha- Guess what...when I ran windowed as in second results, it gave a score a bit higher, but that takes into account clocked cpu and ram.

Tried non windowed...hey up says I. Same score as windowed very different from ops first set of non windowed results.

So...I tried something,

I ran heaven at same settings, but used afterburner to 'force' the lower catalyst state; 500/1250...results were pretty much the same as first 'anomalous' results in ops latest useful post.

OP, run heaven in the same circumstances as your first results and have gpuz running at the same time. I think you may have a driver error or a mobo error of some form that is causing your card to run at lower powerplay settings- if memory is being undervolted/overvolted or mucked about with as a result of powerplay not functioning right this could cause artefacts, your temps are normal.

You can check what speed the core is going to, and if when you get a low score or lag, it sticks at 500 that right there is the problem and it can be solved.

First time I have ever downclocked to run a benchie!

Heaven Score, same heaven settings as op 'low result', card set to 500/1250; 355; when I compared against ops non anomalous results with my card at stock, I got 584. These both fit proportionally with the card being in a lower powerplay state.

This could very well be a driver problem. You need to test what I am saying though.

Had you done what I asked in the first place this might have been sorted tonight, there is no guarantee I am right but its a very real possibility. Now download gpuz and help yourself mate.

I have also seen people having the 500Mhz core clock problem if they are running a video in the background whilst running games/benchmarks. I also think, by looking at the driver version the op is using (12.12 and not the 12.12a's) that may cause a problem as i think up to now the only driver that says it supports the 6900 series are the 12.12a's (i have actually run the 12.12's without a problem but you never know with different hardware configurations)

<facepalm> Joke was good, you should have let it be.

OP please actually go back and check. When your card misbehaves you <NEED> to check if it is running at 500. Download gpuz and let us know please. You can run a heaven benchmark and then if the results are like your first set of non windowed results, track back over the core speeds and check if it has been running at 500 core. If it has we have the issue sorted and can look at fixes.

I was just using benchmarks to demontrate my problem. i normally play hawx 1 and 2, assassins creed, stalker, alien swarm. it was with games that i first noticed my problems and started trying benchmarks.

Word from HIS:
"It may be caused by the bad contact between GPU and cooler."
I am finally speaking to a technician and he is trying to diagnose the problem. His first reply was the above. OcUK said the cooler was not loose but is it possible that it is something internal that is not visible from outside eg. bad spread of thermal paste?
