hi ppl i just recently been gettin this wee annoying problem doesnt happing all the time but i have to reboot to get rid off it.
right here goes when i play a game it gets choppy and when i goto the desktop when i move the mouse its laggy.
i dont no what has caused this i dont overclock any of my componets in my pc.
so i m baffled to what is making this happen. as i sayed above the only way to get rid of it is by rebooting.
can any of you help me out here please...

intel core duo 2 e 6600 standard clocks.
gigabyte ds4 default bios not overclocked.
gainward 8800 gts standard clocks
maxtor 200 gig sata win xp
samsung 400 gig sata win vista 32
3 gig for kingston value ram 667
nec dvdr
microsoft keyboard
microsoft intelli optical mouse..
hiper 580 moudular psu.

please help...
 
What version of Windows? Have you got all updates installed? Do you run the Windows (or a third party) firewall? Have you got any anti-virus? Anti-Spyware? Have you checked in the process list when it becomes laggy, to see which process is eating lots of CPU?
 
thank you mate for the quick reply. iuse avast for my virus software and spyware doctor(havent been using it in a while bocs i thought it woulda been doing it but it hasnt ) i dont think it could be heat related my temps are in the 30,s and ive 32 process running on my pc. i hope this help
i dont update my pc to be honest. i an still mpove my mouse when this happens but games a very choppy not even playable.

i use windows xp.sp2
 
When it goes laggy, check in the task manager and see if anything is taking up 90%+ of CPU. If it is, end it and see if you get your mouse control back.
 
Then the first thing to do is a full clean-up,

windows update
anti virus update and scan
anti spyware update and scan
msconfig-turn off any progs you don want/need

also look through you programs folder and uninstall anything you dont need/want.

also how full is our hard drive, a good spring clean now and then is good to free up some space.

also download "Ccleaner" and run it.

You didn't say whether you're using a firewall or not. If you're using XP SP2, then that includes a basic firewall, but you could have course
have disabled it.

Also, do you connect directly to the internet (with a USB DSL modem connected to your PC) or do you have a DSL router that your pc is connected to via a network cable/wireless?

If you're using a direct connection, and you're not updating your PC, there's a chance that your PC might've become infected through an unpatched security vulnerability.

It's also possible that the lagginess is caused by Windows Update itself, trying to update your system etc.

In any case, please download and install "HijackThis", then "Do a System scan and create a logfile", and post it here.

Also download "StartupList", and do a "File"->"Copy to clipboard" and then post that result here as well.

Edit: OK, please do as the other posters have suggested before bothering with HijackThis etc.  Might be easier/simpler for now.
 
sorry forgot to mention i have a ntl wireless router and a buffalo box and a edimax wireless lan usb.when my problem happens i discount form the internet to see if that helps but this doesnt help @ all...
