My 'PS360' controller

Charging is done through the Xbox play and charge port on top of the pad (I didn't want PS3 pads mini-usb poking through somewhere looking out of place!).

Something just occurred to me, what happens when you want to re-sync the controller to the PS3?

Absolutely fantastic, I would pay good money for one of these.

Why hasn't a third-party manufacturer made a PS3 compatible controller that is exactly like the 360s? There is clearly a market for it

Copyright infringement ??? just think if a third party company did a ps3 looking controller for the 360 sony would sue for sure

The play and charge has been modified so it carries standard USB signals through to the connector, so it is just a case of plugging it in like the standard PS3 mini usb cable.

$750, thats insane!! I mean its a lot of work, but not that much work :)
As I said before, the PS buttons (triangle square etc) are easy to do, but the 360 buttons are 'shaped' to the curve of the controller whereas the PS3 buttons are just flat so they wont look or feel as good. As for the D-pad, as I barely ever use it I wasn't that bothered although I may have a go at fitting it with some old spare controller shells I have just for the sake of it.

How come? don't get me wrong, it's good, but Ben Hecks had the PS D-pad and the PS buttons which has to be better when playing PS games surely???

One of the main complaints about the PS3 controller is the deadzones on the joysticks. This design replaces the joysticks with those of the 360 pad thus overcoming that problem, for people that have that complaint ben hecks design is pretty pointless.

Also, as stated earlier, buttons are not as well supported on ben hecks design and could give way after extended use. That's all speculation though obviously.

Also, the button issue could rather easily be rectified surely? Just replace the xbox ones with the ps3 ones like ben heck did.

The only thing wrong with this way of doing things is the d-pad. But at present there is only one game that a d-pad is really important for (SF4) so people could just have a spare DS3 just in case.

Interesting I may try this if someone tells me how ;);)

So other than the controller shape, this should have improved analogues which would be the main reason Id get/make one. Also arent the X360 rumble motors more powerful than the DS3?

Just needs the PS3 d-pad and its perfect...

ps3ud0

Nice and neat mod. I prefure the playstation pad though (been using since ps1 launch day so ive developed ps hands ;) ) Problem with x360 pad which I use on pc is hand cramp from stretching to left thumstick and sore thumbs from those horrid bumps on the sticks. Biggest issue with the ps3 pads is I keep breaking the springs on the triggers as there so weak. Good use for old floppies though. I take the springs and have stronger triggers on the ps3 pad.

I wouldn't have thought this was possible due to the proprietary nature of console controllers.

Are both circuit boards live at the same time? Is it possible to control both the 360 and PS3 in the same game at the same time?

Edit: Also the PS3 controller board would be tuned for PS3 components, so doesn't driving it off 360 bits throw the tolerances out? e.g. pressing down on the trigger encounters the dead-zone earlier or later.

My hands need this mod done so badly. Trying to play Killzone 2 online kills my hands after even an hour. The thumbstick positions are the work of the devil. Damn you Sony, damn yooooooooooou! :( :p

Great work, I hate playing on my friends PS3 because of the pants controller, it makes my hands ache so much.
The 360 controller is so much nicer to hold, nearly perfect for my hands, but not quite.
