My 'PS360' controller

I prefer the shape of the PS3 pad due to having smallish hands but really dislike the placement of the left joystick. The ideal pad for me would simply be the DS3 with the d-pad and analogue stick swapped.

Looking again at those photos i really can't believe how excellent your soldering accuracy is, i'd never have a chance in hell of doing it myself.

No chance, the 360 controller is ergonomically superior in every way.
I was quite serious when I posted that! I so badly want one of those :p
I have to agree with you 100%, but each to their own :)
As for the 2nd part of your post, I'm away for a week from tomorrow but if, say, you were to email my trust account I'd be able to reply when I am back ;)

I would think the amount of people that would want that is far, far smaller.

I suspect that would depend whether your sample was average man on the street or people form internet forums. Quite often the 2 show wildly differing views on many subjective topics.

OP, pretty awesome mod. I would auctions yours off tbh. I am guessing it is too much time and effort for you to be modding loads of these so just make money off your one.

People are paying £200 for SFIV joysticks. I don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility that there is a 360 & PS3 owner out there who would pay that kind of silly (imo) money for your hard work, easily. (Edit just read you are making some more so this paragraph makes no sense!!)

Only way this thread can get better is when we see pictures of the, inevitable, failed mods :)

I think it would depend on if you generally ask people with small or large hands. The PS pad is designed for Japanese males and Europeans/Americans have a lot larger hand on average.

I think average man in the street really does not care or analyse this that much, and would find your hand facts revelatory, but ultimately uninteresting.

Possibly a family Fortunes style kind off survey is needed where 100 people in the street are asked.

Big hands, small hands. WE ARE ALL PEOPLE. :D

It's funny when you act up like this :p

Can I just say WOW the mod is very impressive indeed :)

Up untill killzone there was not really any PS3 games that I would have ever wanted to play competitively and so the controller never bothered me. I just played the likes of GT5p, Motorstorm, R&C, drakes and some PSN games...

I am kinda rough with my controllers in general i.e. they fall off the sofa a lot onto the wooden floor or thrashing the lil joysticks about thinking nothing of it. Would these mods be fragile as the pics look so complicated and surely one little wire coming lose would cause it to stop working?

Still tho I am really curious as to what the cost is to get this done, not including the cost of the controllers, so just the labour costs? :p

Balls. I have big hands (I'm 6'2" and all in proportion) and I still prefer the PS pad over 360's.

I would probably find the 360 pad just as good though if the left analogue stick was in the right place ;)

Thats a pretty ace idea you had there and well pulled off.

Personnally i find both PS and Xbox controllers to be exactly the same, neither hold any advantage over the other. It not like when i go to my brothers house and play Fifa on a different console i can't handle it or get cramp or anything.

Play an FPS then say the same, the PS3 pad is rubbish in comparison.

I believe Saitek do a pad like this, not sure if it supports sixaxis though, or how similar it is in shape, in fact looking at it now the start etc. buttons are in a different place, in fact forget I said anything :p

I did consider it however reviews said the d-pad was pap (the best thing about the DS3 is the d-pad) and it was wired and lacked sixaxis which would have made a few games unplayable.

Essentially it's a nice idea poorly executed.

I do wonder why Sony didn't simply swap the positioning of the d-pad and joystick, guess there's more to it than i can envisage.

same here but i guess thats because ive used PS pads since the begining and the anologue ones since gran turismo !

i can see how people would prefer the 360 one if they use it most but i cant see how they cant get used to the PS one when there isnt all that much difference
