My Rally Project

I had to do the do the same to my brown plug. Quite an easy job, but fixes a major problem with the 205.

Great work with the car lopez, the engine bay looks amazing.

Hello mate. I cant quite see, and i had a quick look through the thread, but is the strip along the bottom of the windscreen rusted? If so, how have you treated it? Just primer?

looks like a rust converter to me, RC800, ku-rust or similar. May be wrong though.

Yeah they go rusty because the drainholes block up over time.

Treatment:

Ground down with wire knotwheel
Apply Bilt-Hamber De-Ox Gel to remove any other corrosion
Apply Bilt-Hamber Hydrate80 to stabilise corrosion (similar to Kurust, Jenolite etc) and provide a solid base coat.
Fibreglass areas of perforation (non structural part)
Prime

Tonight I will give it a couple of topcoats

WHY WON'T IT STOP RAINING?!?

Can't apply top coat in this weather, it's utterly hammering down with rain and the wind is blowing inside the garage so I will leave it a bit longer.

In the meantime some bits have turned up:

170.jpg

Big chunk of vacuum hose - the seller sent the wrong colour by mistake and is kindly replacing it for me

171.jpg

FIA spec harness eyebolt and backplate. Got this fitted tonight.

172.jpg

Posh rubber lined P-clips - these will hold my fuel lines in place inside the car.

173.jpg

And this is the where the bonnet pins will go in my "4 pin" mounting system.

I really hope it stops raining soon because I need to do work inside the car and that means wheeling it outside with the doors open. Every time I try that at the moment the carpets etc are getting filthy and drenched.

Horrible grotty work tonight, on my back under the back axle.

Got the old solid brake lines off the back - lucky I decided to replace them as they would have definitely failed the MOT as they were very rusty.

To get to them was a right bind - had to drop the rear axle off it's mounting points.

That's when this happened:

It's supposed to look like this:

Luckily like a good boy scout I am prepared and had a pair of these:

Which fit here:

Should eliminate some of that sloppy rear end!

The other side will be done tomorrow. Also forced into buying a new flexi hose as the ends on mine won't turn freely so I cannot do them up without turning the hose into a Curly Wurly

Yeah they are a little uncompromising :D

Clutch cable FINALLY arrived today, just waiting for dinner to be served and it's back down the garage!

Shame about the weather but it's coming along really well, very much looking forward to seeing it completed :)

Don't let Kate hear you say that, it's TEA! :D

No no, he speaks proper English, it's dinner ;) Or supper of course. :p

Leon, as I said to Kate, don't worry about this weekend, we'll pop up soon (when it's finished would be even better! ;)) and I can't wait to see it! :D
