I was unplugging my Raptor and while unplugging it the plastic around the sata connector came off with it!? BTW RAID 0 is running now :D Quite impressed... had Vista installed within about 15minutes!!

Can I RMA this?

Ah i remember there was a lot of people who had this problem. I'm not sure if it will be covered under warranty as it wasn't a problem with the drive itself. They may end up saying that you were too careless etc. I remember reading somewhere that SATA connectors were designed to only be plugged/unplugged a certain number of times.

They're very flimsy though imo and i reckon you should try and email WD about it. After all, it's not your fault that the connectors are weak.

About a year ago the same thing happened to me and Western Digital gave me a replacement. :)

Oh nice... I guess I'll RMA it then :D

Thanks for that reply mate.. nice one :)

Was it just a simple RMA

Yes it was dead easy, they told me that it is a common problem on sata drives and just replaced it with a new hard drive. Thy gave me a special connector for it as well that stops the cable from breaking in the future. :)

Ah nice one mate.. did you just rma it and send it off? or did you call them and then they did it for you?

I think I phoned them up first and got the RMA from them that way, there system is a bit complicated actually and involves taking your card details for security and you have to post to Germany! ;) But they were helpful over the phone so you shouldn't have any problems with it. :)

Just out of interest (as I am in the same position), with your RMA in place, how many days in total did it take for your broken Raptor to arrive in Germany and the new Raptor dispatched from WD to you? :)

Western digital support is appalling... after submitting two questions its been two weeks I've been waiting for a reply. Not happy with them... EVGA is just as bad.
