My reaction time is rubbish (cognitive tests)

The reaction speed test is IMO useless. Your actions are thought out ahead of time, and you simply react.

This is not proper reaction time because all thinking is excluded.

A better test will involve some small puzzle, or something to think about

Even driving a car, it is not certain to break in all situations, you might need to turn left, right, or even accelerate.

Im sure if you compare F1 drivers to normal drivers in this test the times will be extremely similar, but if you then made them drive F1, the normal drivers will crash :)

Mmm ok if I write off the reaction test the remembering patterns sequence one I find hard ,numbers easy.
My long term memory is almost a superpower but it's the short term that I worry about and the implications of that

A professional in their professional environment is not reacting cold. Experience gives mental shortcuts to premade decisions.

Click a button in response to a light change is crude but you can't game it.

OK i think in my post, fueled by red wine optimism i was hoping for a few comparisons ,ie i just did the numbers test and got 13 numbers ect ect ect
in the background its also a general worry about my losing all my marbles, i don't say this phrase disrespectfully to anyone with dementia in the family
As regards meat my plant protein intake is great, however i don't mind other concerns omega 3 ect being brought to my attention (i do take algie tablets)
edit Maybe wine is the obvious one if i am being honest 20 to 30 units a week

Even without supplementation you are unlikely to be suffering this as a result of your diet as so many foods are fortified. Ignore the preachy lot
but go get a blood test if you are concerned.

30 units of alcohol a week could indicate a problem. It’s almost certainly impacting your quality of sleep which will directly affect your reaction times. Having seen you mention it a few times, it seems you may think you have a problem with alcohol. It’s a hard pill to swallow but if you want to chat about it you can drop me a PM.

I only got to level 6 in the sequence test :(. My dads memory (long term) is great but his short term is at times a little poor, he got diagnosed with mild cognitive loss, I believe they called it.
Memory loss sucks, my grandad had dementia, and I saw the toll it took on him overtime, horrible.

Well i am subscribed to the on the wagon thread and insomnia thread so checks out ,i had a general blood test and that was ok ,i never ever sleep right through but wake many times after 3am

i blame the latency in my wifi / hardware set up as well maybe or is that negligible ?
wifi doesn't come into play, the test is run locally in your browser

but hardware definitely does, latency from mouse to monitor affects it, as does CPU/ram/browser/OS performance
I first used that test back in the day, when Samsung released a monitor with really high input lag. You could see that 40-50ms added lag easily in the test result. And it was many ways horrible for mouse responsiveness.

just tested on my 5 year old work laptop, got 180ms
on gaming desktop - 150ms
