My review of the EK Supremacy Evo

very nice review.

If I have the intel haswell 4770k do I have to change the jet plates around ect. or will the one pre installed be the correct one to use ?

Thanks. The block comes with I1 and J1 preinstalled so you will want to make it I1, J2 instead. Essentially I1 is Intel, I2 is AMD, J1 is big Intel die (-E chips) and J2 is everything else.

Of course having said that, EK just announced this today:

We have updated our EK Water Blocks EK-Supremacy EVO installation manual. Please use Insert 2 (I2) with Jet J1 (0.25mm) for best results on Intel LGA-2011-V3 series Core i7 58xx/59xx CPUs. We never stop - we are fine tuning the performance even further.

What CPU are you using? My block orientation results above seem to match what others have observed also for the two cases above. No idea about x79/99 chips yet because my motherboard is still not here :(

5960x - Been building and OCing rigs since P1 day's but watercooling is a NEW thing for me. So very excited to give it a go - little reviews like this are very useful indeed.

Well my board should be here next week but no sign of the RAM just yet. But the 5960x is more of a square die than anything else so I won't be surprised if orientation wasn't very important here.

Heh.. That thing won't be done anytime soon if these work/review requirements keep coming up. Corsair was supposed to have sent a HG10 over a month ago for testing (stock vs HG10/AIO vs custom loop test) and then the big quad rad comparison is commencing soon. Got the fans for it as you may have seen (48 NB fans!).

IS there an update to the plates that need fitting with a 4770k ? ie do I use the ones already installed or do I have to change them ?.

I am only asking as its getting close now to me installing all the kit I have bought. so I might do the cpu block now.

perhaps a comment of EK_Derick ?

Mine came with J1 pre-installed which I changed over to J2 for these tests in here. Take a look at the fittings kit and see what jetplate is in there- J2 has an extra notch at the top and bottom (2 on each side) compared to J1.

Insert I1 is pre-installed and that should be what you want for the 4770k as per latest instructions.

Hehe if your getting it from ocuk, I think a lot of wc items are out of stock and they are awaiting stock. im waiting for tubing then I can do mine lol

I am still waiting for the RAM to arrive :(

Ah, which set have you gone with?

I am leaning towards the G.Skill 3000Mhz C15 kit.

When you are up and running will you test the different jet plates and inserts with the 5960X?
I know EK recommend I2 J1 but it would be interesting to see how much of a difference that makes over the other configurations.

I had ordered a G.Skill which they were unable to provide to the reseller I purchased from. Working out something with Corsair, let's see.

Ya, I imagine that I will test out different combinations- at least the different inserts because I have no idea still what the difference between the two is.
