my second 6950 goes to 100% gpu load just after boot

Umm... lol nooby question but how do you do that again? :)
Presuming your talking about launching gpu-z at startup, then create a shortcut and put it into: Start>all programs>Startup.
Why don't you unplug all your extra monitors and reboot to see if that's the problem?

I could try, but then that would defeat the point of having multiple gfx cards if I am running only one monitor. It should be an easy fix for amd, I just can't understand how these issues would happen in the first place :(

but just try it, to see if that is the issue. Hell, if it is, after a reboot with only onemonitor, you might be able to plug it in and it be all ok from then on...

I get the same problem with a 5970, duel monitors and any driver set after 10.10e. Seems to be a fair few people that suffer from this, but I've no seen any sign ATI are working on it.

seems strange since I know it affects Nvidia cards on dual monitors sometimes as well, it would imply that it isnt a problem with Nvidia/ATI drivers so much as its a problem with the windows display manager thing.

im interested as to why gpuz seems to sort it?? if it wasnt for that i wouldnt be able to run CF

My 5850 jumps to 99% load then sticks there. I have found the issue to caused be either the hardware acceleration of Flash 10.2 or Firefox 4's Hardware acceleration. There was meant to be a fix for it in the last Catalyst update but apparently it didn't work.

Go to registry and disable Ulps:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]

and change "EnableUlps" to 0 under the 0000 and 0001 or 0003 keys.

that'll fix the drop down to 0 . also it may fix your 100% usage issue..

i have disable Ulps and it has fixed my crashing issue (atikmpag.sys i think)

Nope that's not the issue, you only really need to disable ULPS if you are overclocking. Doesn't fix the usage issue.

disabling ULPS stops the second/3rd/4th card from powering down (core/memory) going to 0 at idle

when i had ULPS enabled the second and 3rd core/memory powered down which showed 0/0 also the usage on the second card would stick at 100% at idle sometimes.. also was getting crashs a lot

for me disabling ULPS fixed all that
