pick the first bit of militaria it comes up with, they are all the same stuff.

Oh dear - One of "those" carrier bag carrying people.

Fills me with images of people with hoarding problems and filthy houses when I see people carrying their daily wares in a plastic bag.

This is what I eventually bought to repair my bag and I took it in somewhere and had them do it for me. It seemed sensible to use a vintage strap to fix it. Here's how it turned out.

It's a pretty good repair and they even used the webbing to patch a small hole that had worn through in that area as well.

So I'm happy, a vintage bag repaired with vintage materials and I'm now using it again

But only if his gas mask isn't contemporary to the bag as I'm sure some of the '40s issued ones had asbestos in the filter.
