Around 5 months ago I did a Level 1 skydive. This involved a whole day of training and then I jump out of a plane at 13500 feet with two instructors holding onto me, giving me instructions, etc.

I then pull and land myself. This cost me around 220 quid, it is part of a course and the first level is the most expensive because of the intensive training. Total course to get the license is around 1300 in the UK.

I jumped at Netharavon which is the Army Parachute Association, i.e a military base.

Nice  .

I've been wanting to do something like that for a while now but can't find anywhere local, or in scotland for that matter. Looks great.

Were you meant to pull the ripcord earlier? Why did you reach back for it a few times before pulling?

No, it's all part of the routine.

You have to do three dummy pulls to show them you are all good and alive and that you know where the cord is. The procedure is reach, grab, release. Three times.

I think he was tryin to pull it but too early, or he was indicating to the guy with the camera that he wanted him to grab him closer to the butt. :p

nah, read above, it's all part of the routine!

What's funny is that when i did need to pull for real (at around 5500 feet) i tried to steal his altimeter.

Once a london lad always a london lad I guess!

Awesome video, I wanted to see the rest of it though!

When you were in the plane first I was saying to myself 'That's insane, i'd never do that'.

But after jumping and falling for a while it looked like an amazing experience, especially after pulling the shoot, someone futher up mentioned how tranquil and silent it was, that part looks great.

WOAHHHHHH! That looks like such an adrenaline rush! I bet you were cacking yourself having to dangle your legs out like that!

Congrats to you for having the balls to do something like that!

Nice one buddy! Better luck at finding the ripcord next time ;) :D I have my raps on the 18-19th at Hibaldstow, so hopefully by June time I will be Cat8 and be able to jump solo. Don't really have the money for AFF, but as am working, raps suits me better.

Blue skies!

I bet you were grinning like an insane mental patient when you landed! :D

You always remember your first jump. Then again you remember every single jump you ever do (well I can pretty much pin point every 437 jumps I've done :)).

Congrats on getting it done - how do you feel now? I bet you can't wait to get back up again!

Legs are a bit stiff but other than that not bad body shape at all! Even managed to keep relatively stable during your dummy pulls. You soon learn to relax and worry less - but I still get nervous now ;) I see they are still doing rip cord rather than throw away AFF (it depends on the DZ I guess). Did you drop it? If so you know it's a beer fine - You get used to beer fines after a while :p

Hope you keep it up and we can jump sometime - that goes for anyone on here :)

I did the jump a long time ago (October) but yea I was grinning like a loon!

I didn't drop the rip cord, as soon as I pulled and was stable I stuffed it into my top while doing my checks.
