My Skydive Video

Nice one dude :D Watching that video has made me want to learn how to do that. Freefaller .... do you know if there is anyone near Edinburgh that teaches this? Oh, and being a scotsman ..... the cheaper the better ;) :D

Closest I've got is doing 2 tandem jumps, and to this day (I'm 36) they are the best two things I have ever done. Both were in New Zealand incidentally. Have got a great video of my first...I got the camera guy to use my own mini-dv tape, so I had the original so I could get stills etc off it later.

Congrats mate...bragging rights well and truly earned :)

Hmm, IE can't find the site!?!

Always been toying on doing a jump, but I agree with the serenity when the chute opens, as a paraglider. Done a wing walk which was cool, although you're not as 'free' when jumping/gliding.

The irony is that my family think it's crazy to do a jump, but perfectly fine for me to strap myself to a biplane or throw myself off a hill/mountain!

Edit: http://www.tonycaria.co.uk comes up with a blank page!?!

Wow - fantastic video, mate! Made me get goose bumps on my forearms just watching it. Not sure if I fancy it at present tho (can't stand heights).

How fast are you actually falling at?

I know I would want them standing by me until the canopay was successful for me, but that guy looked like his hand was going to be in the way of the opening! Is that normal? :p

Yes.

I had a debrief with another guy and in his video the instructor actually grabbed part of the opening chute to help it come out.

The "beer line" is basically the edge of the PLA (parachute landing area) if you cross it you're in a non specified landing area and could be in an area of hazards - therefore dangerous, and hence slap wrist time. They call that the beer line. If you cross it, you buy a crate of beer basically. You also buy a crate of beer if you mess up, have a reserve deployment, reach a milestone (eg 100 jumps, new qualification etc), or it's your birthday or any reason the CCI wants to give :p They aren't supposed to be serious things really.

Well done!! Absolutely stylin'!! Can you remember how you felt during freefall? :-D

Recently did my AFF + A Licence all in two weeks, 25 jumps altogether! Haven't got my vids yet, can't wait to see em!! I still have an awful lot to learn, but I'll be cracking into it in ernest in about 3 weeks when I go to Switzerland for the summer :-) Its a relief to be done with the basic training - looking forward to enjoying the experiance without the stress of being 'examined'!

If anyone's interested, its often much cheaper abroad, espessially in the states, so you can make a wicked holiday of it! Just be very aware that some countries have very poor or non-existent safety regulations - that goes for tandems as well as student jumps. I did mine in Deland Florida, it was great ;-)

Anyways, enjoy and keep safe :-)
