29 MPG on LPG sounds pretty good to me when you consider LPG is nearly half the price of petrol. I've never really understood all the hate for LPG - people go on about the various failings of diesels, and are then completely disinterested in a fuel which gives you the chance to run a nice petrol car for the same or even less cost than a diesel.
I completely agree that it's pointless spending £1500 on a conversion when you're only doing a few k per year, but for anyone doing high mileage it seems like a great solution to me. I certainly wish I'd done it when I'd got my Jag - LPG is the equivalent of 60ppl here and available almost everywhere, and even in England it was available at plenty of stations for 70-75ppl.
My dad's got an LPG car, as have several people I know, and none of them have had any problems whatsoever.
Not sure wht your point is. LPG clearly isn't for everyone.
I do 20k p/a in my GT-Four (22k actually between the previous 2 MOT's). Shocking to hear I know that some actually uses their car
