My fault really he's nearly 2 years old and starting to investigate everything!

It fell on a corner, lid doesn't sit flush when closed, DVD drive is making some strange sounds? Lid is dented.......

I'm absolutely gutted :(:(:(

Just looking to see if I have accidental cover for our house (well the wife is)

Can Apple repair all this for me??

I dropped mine onto a concrete floor from 5ft but there wasn't a mark on it.

HD died when it was asleep *strange* but I took it in and they replaced it, got the DVD drive replaced aswell because it wasn't reading DVDs (even before it was dropped), the replacement drive is going the same way! :(

Only mark left on it is the express-card slot is slightly bent out, otherwise mint.

Although mine is the non unibody, I would expect the unibody to stand up to a drop (abit more than the pre 2008 ones do)!?

There's a lot of luck involved. At work we've had one laptop destroyed after being dropped off a bed. The power cord was plugged in, it landed on the plug and the socket got ruined.

How about selling the child into slavery to pay for a replacement.

True, I dont know how mind landed, it was in my camera bag and then it was sliding along the floor for a few feet!

If its seriously damaged then its an insurance job!

Well its got the bent hinge and DVD is making horrible sounds there is a dent on the lid too

I'll claim for sure.....

The point he is making regarding the pan is the fact he was in the kitchen and be glad it was only the laptop that got pulled off and not something else (yes I know he is only 2, but i think that's what wush was getting at)

With the damage you mention, I would hope for a replacement, but backup your data first as it sounds to be a whole new chassis required and dvd drive.

Still working (on it as I type) but DVD drive is deff mullered was going to pop a cd but worried it won't come out or blow up on me ..lol

Tweakinfreak, aren't the specs wrong in our sig. The MacBook Pro has two video cards.

I wish my son would pull my whitebook off the kitchen work top so I had an excuse to get it replaced with the new Unibody MacBook. :D

Yeah didn't see the point in putting both on.....

Gutted I have to wait until Monday to hopefully get summit sorted..

Just tried a DVD in the super drive and it doesn't automatically take the disc in.... so that's def buggered.....

Looks like I my go for a totally new laptop....

This is a guess from my experiance and some places might cost more or less.

SuperDrive - £200~
Clamshell - £50~
Hinges - £20~
Work - £100~

£350 - £500 assuming theres no damage to the logic board, HDD, or the other parts of the machine, I would personally push the insurance ppl for a new one.

P.s. these prices are more likley more than less.

Agreed.

I've seen people been charged £400 just for casing replacements!

Spoke to insurance, I am covered and they have passed to the 3rd party, they will collect see if it is fixable and if so do that, if not send out a replacement!

My concern is that there is some internal fault that may not appear for weeks/months.....

The whole top and bottow case needs replacing, the hinge needs replacing along with the super drive...

I'm going to push for a replacement... It switched of (2 hours battery showing) last night whilst I was browsing the web :( something is not right internally...

Just make sure you have the drive backed up and also I'd wipe the drive prior to sending it.. once they decide to replace it you will not have access to it and the laptop could end up anywhere with your data (home bank details etc) on it..
