My son just pulled my 2 month old MBP off the kitchen side onto a tiled floor!

Insurance company are quick to take my money but slow to make a decision on whether to repair or replace my MBP :(

Saying they may not get to it until the end of this week beginning of next.... grrrrrr

Vote with your wallet and change suppliers once this has been sorted. Who you with by the way?

Who are you with? It took over FOUR WEEKS for the guys Norwich Union use to tell me that my Mac Mini was a write off when it broke after the power went on and off in the house. Every time I called them they were like 'Yes we should know in a few days and will call you'. Luckily I'd spotted a decent Macbook on the refurb store so I decided to buy that and sell the Mac Mini when they finally sent me it.

Hi mate as per post above I'm with Nationwide...

Don't want to come across as a hassle I just want a decision sooner rather than later...

May flog it brand new sealed on MM and go back to a PC thats out of the way!

With the Insurance - pester them, a lot.

Secondly going back to a PC from a MacBook Pro is a bit of a backward step. Why are you considering that? Surely it's not just because it was dropped?

If I dropped my MacBook there is not way I'd go back!

May call them Friday and see where they are with the claim, jobs changing so I need a PC for some virtual servers and clients I would like to setup and use....not sure still

UPDATE!!

Hi Guys

Well the insurance company are posting me a chx out for £1,259.00 (Retail £1,369.00 + £40 repair quote fee - £150 excess) and they haven't asked for the faulty unit back so far either :D

Suppose someone will buy it off me on the bay?

It boots fine and the screen is fine, just the super drive isn't working....

At least it's nearly sorted now!!!

I would definitely call up insurance and check whether they want the machine or not. It could be a nasty surprise if you sell it and then they ever demand it back later (which I'm sure they're entitled to, under T&Cs of the insurance policy) - and not really worth the risk.

Of course, if you call up and then they say "keep it" then you're free to do as you please!

Just called them and they said they do not need the faulty unit returned :D

Got the guys name and I know the team number he works in too...

Happy days!

My Insurance did not wanted my DSLR when I dropped it when out hiking when the screen got cracked and some marks on the body work and I still got a new camera and flogged the old one off.

I wanted to send it back and they said all they do is bin it so make sense to make use of it
