As the title suggest i think I have finalised what i want to get, I would appreciate any comments e.g if it is inbalanced or I have forgotten something!

(n.b I realise the PSU is a bit overkill currently, but I was thinking I would set up a 5850 crossfire in a year or two, so will need the extra power then.)

here is the spec

Second the Seasonic, both are perfectly fine however. Otherwise looks great.

Except that you're lacking a CPU cooler. (Unless you're staying stock on purpose)

i wasnt sure if i needed one?

I am not planning to overclock straight away (i may do in a year or two when the system starts to fall behind)

You will need to look at the retail cpu which comes with a heatsink & fan or get a after market cooler.

How much left of your budget.

is their a model you would suggest?

the system would be 'safe' to run as it is though wouldnt it? perhaps this is something i will add later (i have already over-ran my budget!)

sorry only just noticed I had the oem not the retail version in my spec. I may as well go for the retail version as it is only £5 more this week.

should the heatsink and fan that intel provide be fine for now?

The retail heatsinks are fine so long as you don't plan to overclock. They can get a bit noisy; but nothing too extreme.
Other than that all I can say is nice build :) I wouldn't worry too much between those two PSU's either. Both are quality components

I have one critical question regarding my motherboard & DVD drive.

I was planning to re-use my old DVD RW from my dead PC. The drive is 6yrs old and I think it is pre-SATA. will i be able to connect it to this motherboard?
