My Surfshark subscription is about to expire. Is there such a thing as a reliable, fast free vpn?

There are a few threads on overclockers about VPNs. Useful, yes, but thought I'd ask for more recent opinions or recommendations.
Free would be nice.
Paid is probably more realistic. Cheap would be nice :)
What are your experiences with VPN providers?

Do you have a topcashback account?

Not up till now. When I went to that link, I was asked by that site for BACS info. I was offered the option to use my paypal address. I did that, then created a password for it. Presumably that means I now have a topcashback account?
Forgive my lack of worldlyness in these things. I'm an old fart.

Edited for: spelling errors (plenty more to come:)

Check in your account under "earnings dashboard" or something to that effect, your cashback should show up in there, but keep in mind it can take a couple of days for it to appear.

Also scout around the site and see if you can find the subscription settings, the default one will deduct £5 off your first offer (which it may well be too late to undo, but turn it off anyway as the value added is irrelevant).

Your cashback will usually be available to withdraw after a month or so, but some pay quicker and some take longer, luck of the draw.

Thank you.
I'll have a look in a bit. Just about to 'av me tea.

Also worth mentioning that cash back isn’t guaranteed.
Eh? Not guaranteed?
90 percent of £71 is something I'd rather be sure of before I commit. What's the score here then?

If it doesn’t track because of your cookie or ad block settings or you have accidentally clicked another affiliate/referral link, you may not get the cash back.

I tend to to top cash back or quidco transactions via clean browser with a standard configuration to make sure it tracks properly.

As @b0rn2sk8 says, use a completely clean browser with no plugins when using sites like Topcashback or Quidco. If you've got no plugins then you should be fine. In the 10 odd years my wife and I have been using these sites the only time I didn't get a payout was because I cancelled the product. The rest have been perfectly fine.

I'd suggest looking in to it a bit more if you're unsure. It's not 100% risk free but there's a very high chance you'll get some money back if you do it right. Loads of Youtube vids if you need more info:

I did NordVPN via Topcashback and it didn't track, I've got a case open but everything TCB takes weeks or months and certainly runs past any reasonable cancellation dates. Think it was about £45 before cashback for 2 years though so, not an awful deal if it doesn't work.

In general I've found TCB pretty **** in terms of tracking stuff. I must be doing something wrong.

Had over £3k paid from TCB over the years, had a few refusals but that was generally always due to trying my luck with promo codes or order cancellations/returns.

Cyberghost is £39 for 12 months or £66 for 2 years.
I've just changed from Express VPN to them and it's all good.
And no messing about with cashback sites.

How are you finding Cyberghost compared to ExpressVPN? I was using ExpressVPN for a few years, but moved to Mozilla VPN just on pricing alone. Mozilla seems Ok but they don’t have as many server options as Express, but crucially it also lacks the internet lock that cuts off all network traffic should you lose your connection to the server that ExpressVPN has, so I might be looking for another VPN when my 1 year subscription ends.
