my very own ebay thread (terrible like all the others)

How long ago was this ?

If paypal refunded and they couldn't charge him back for it, they'll definately chase him for it. He might not hear nothing for weeks or months but they'll come.

oh and just fyi, you mate is a pleb !
Couple years ago now
No he got a letter after couple
Of months saying they weren't
Going to pursue it
Any more but any funds
In that account in future would
Be grabbed
Obviously he shifted the money
Fast as soon as it was
In the account to prevent
Exactly that happening
And yes I agree he was a pleb
To put it very mildly
it just shouldn't be that easy
To do it obviously nothing
Set off any alarms at ebay/PayPal
Until 3 or 4 weeks when
All the disputes went in
By which time the money was
Long gone
Yet they didn't even red flag his
Name or address when
He opened new accounts which
Is probably the most
Shocking bit to me

Gardening items. Trays and lids for a specific electric propagator. From a legit shop they're about £10-18. From this seller, £7 for 2 :p

Just moulded plastic basically.
Hmmm 'gardening' items..

EBay is a nightmare, although I bought 16gb of trident z royal 4000mhz cl17 for £136,thought every second of the way that I would regret it, but they turned up, still with the plastic peel still on them.

In almost 500 transactions with 80% buying over 20 years I haven't had anyone try to scam me. I think your 50/50 comment is just a little bit exaggerated.......

Now watch me get scammed next time I use Ebay.......look out for my thread

For those who said I should give him the benefit of the doubt, here's the chap's feedback profile.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/fdbk/feedbac...WELVE_MONTHS,overall_rating:NEGATIVE&limit=25

Which I really should have looked at before placing the order, eh?

I still don't get why you'd use really low value items in your eBay scam, tho.

In a couple more days I can get eBay to step in and, with that feedback profile, I would be extremely surprised not to get a full refund.

It's just confusing in that I can't see how this scam is supposed to work...

Another issue - clearly eBay are not acting on reports from buyers about dodgy sellers. The whole platform is a **** show to be honest. But then so is Amazon marketplace.

Ebay doesn't make any money out of buyers - only sellers, from whom they extract a large fee for each sold item. And yes, they have no interest in reports of bad sellers unless they get a large number of complaints about them. At which point said dodgy seller just logs back on with a new account.

50/50 - Holy Jesus, that’s brutal. Surprised there’s not more in the media about this all as you’d think if 50% of eBay trades are going pear shaped there’d be millions of people worldwide up in arms. Why the heck are you even using a buy/sell platform that is a 50/50 gamble?

Wow some people must get scammed 100% of the time as I've sold 1000ish and purchased 1000ish and not been scammed yet

I've seen those low value scams reported before I can only guess its easier to go under the radar if the value is low /get the money out of pp... Maybe a mass of hacked accounts used by 1 group of people..

As for no action by ebay I suspect they have the absolute minimum of staff

@mrbell1984

I've responded to the buyer twice, no reply from him
eBay have said if its not sorted they may need to step in n 21/02

Theres no way for me to raise a case in eBay, I cant raise a case in paypal either.
Have to let the buyer do everything, it's stupid.
I've used the report buyer option but heard no reply from eBay
