My view on twitchers and let's play, what's yours?

I like the guy who does Worth a buy! Especially when he says " This game is a big pile of donkey dung " when other people are jacking off over a brand name!

Although he does sound like a scouser with a bad cold :p

I don't follow any streams or watch any regularly but I will view the odd one or two when they get linked to me from friends. Don't see the appeal myself. Then again, I don't see the appeal of watching football but that can make a pretty penny too.

Only really watched streams back when SC2's esports scene was vibrant and blossoming.

Now I'll check only to see a new/upcoming game I'm interested every so often.

The crux of it is as a 27 year old bloke I'm not the target audience for these big streamers/youtubers. I can't be bothered getting angry or offended about how they operate their business.

Really who wouldn't scream like a prat on facecam while playing video games all day if it paid the money some of these people are earning?

That said I think totalbiscuit is a complete nob :D

I get bored very easily watching streams.

As for let's play it depends on me who the youtuber is. I prefer grown up people woth some decent humour, JackFargs did a good let's play woth "the last of us", Pwnstar did a very good one for "the walking dead". But I have seen boring and flat ones for lots of others.

I think its in the way you edit the video, I personally don't want to watch the game loading and checking the graphical settings etc.

If people have to esrn $$$ doing it by acting up fairplay to them I couldn't do it.

I did a stream of attempting to play Amnesia... It didn't last long due to being genuinely scared lol.

Other than that, I watch Rooster Tooth and Achievment hunter, but only some of their stuff, I watch Sp4zie and then that's about it.

Can't stand Total Biscuit anymore, absolute tool. Stubborn fool who won't open his eyes. Prat.

This guys a prat if I'm honest. Just acting up to get views.

narcissism scuge of modern society.
I agree with this

The worst streamers are narcissists wanting attention.
From the girl gamers purposely wearing low cut tops to the people who seem over hyped all the time.
There do seem to be a lot of immature people streaming but I guess it must appeal to a younger crowd?

The main streams I watch are of esports matches with commentary.
There are still some really bad & immature commentators on these streams tho, one of the british guys is actually worse at english than most of the European commentators with his mis-pronounced words and use of childish words or sayings.

what a lot don't get is the effort and how hard it is to get yourself noticed or big or make interesting videos or streams.
I agree with this, some people I know setup their systems for streaming thinking they would get people watching over night.
I asked when they would be streaming, they had no set schedule or anything and didn't advertise on twitter or other websites etc, I think the highest number of watchers they had at one time was around 15 and that was mostly the people on teamspeak

I have no issues with females showing a bit of cleavage while pretending to care about gaming.

If desperate men pay them with some bizarre idea they will get something out of it then more fool them.

Same attitude to the likes of PewDiePie, as a grown adult he's not my cup of tea but can see why youth of today enjoy his quirkiness, he's making an extremely good living for doing sod all, fair play to him.

That said Total Biscuit is an utter pretentious **** who is in no way qualified to give opinions on gaming, not only does he lack the knowledge, he's utterly **** at the games he plays. Also he's about as charismatic as a cardboard box.

In other words a ****.

making a good living from doing sod all. its that kind of sillyness that people doesn't get.

he works many hrs a week 60 plus to get his videos out. its not simple. you have to get the footage edit it then its got to be good then you have to upload it then tags and many other things and network it across many networks.

none of this is simple.

As much as I hate PewDiePie's content he's done a fair bit for charity so I can't really hate him as a person. The only stream I really watch is Awesome Games Done Quick. Fantastic cause and I find the strategies the players use interesting.

the more popular you are the more hated you become :p

Not exactly true, if you respond to the haters then you'll get more, but people like Kripparian hardly reads his chat so people don't even bother giving him much hate as they know he won't respond to it.

On the other hand streamers like KingKongor sit and whine about what people say for 3 hours straight and this in turn causes everyone to just rip into him because they know it affects him.

I don't generally watch Twitch streams but the people I follow on youtube put out stream highlights I always watch that. Can't really be bothered to watch people play a game live.

Ok maybe they don't do sod all but lets not pretend it's anything but easy money.

Edit a bit of footage and upload it to different networks, if thats a hard living then it's time to give up.

It's all bloody simple compared to most peoples jobs. We are in a generation of easy money and the youtube/twitch craze is exactly that easy money.

Youtube is a little more difficult, some of the editing people do is brilliant and will take many hours of the week up, twitch on the other hand you switch OBS or some other streaming software on, show your boobs or act like a kid with ADHD and people start chucking thousands of dollars at you.

tbh, if i'm gonna watch someone play games that i could just play myself, that person better be hot with bewbs.

Streaming for a living is really not as easy as some people here think it is, its no different from grinding out a job in the real world. Just for the fact you have to be very sociable and entertaining all the time you are streaming, 8-12 hours a day, constantly thinking about viewer numbers the whole time, dealing with idiots on the internet all the time, its a mentally draining job.

Soon as it becomes a job, it becomes a daily grind just like any other job. Sure it can have its ups and downs, but no way is it easy simple money, a lot of these streamers work their arses off, especially to get to the status of making a living out of it.
