The large font on the main page showing the website looks amateur. There is a lot of competition in webdesign and people who can make stunning professional websites for not much money. If I'm honest, I'd advise looking at a different career.

Maybe he'd be better in web development. Design is more of an artistic job than a computer science oriented one. I wonder if he'd really be satisfied doing html and css as opposed to php, jsp, xpath etc.

Personally I liked the general design. The content was a bit amateurish but that's easily changed and depends entirely on the aim of the site. But I liked the look and feel of it.

I'm on my iPhone so won't type too much, but you should only use tables for tabular data. That's what they are designed to do. For layouts you should be using other HTML elements that are appropriate to the content and CSS to artel/position them.

It's semantically incorrect to use tables and doesn't help users with accessibility difficulties easily navigate your site etc.

If nothing else working with tables for layout make the site a lot more difficult to maintain.

There are probably 100s if not 1000s of articles that can explain to you a tangible reasons why you shouldn't us tables for layout.
