As it regulates the voltages correctly to the reciever. Anyway, if it can start the engine, whats the point in me selling it and buying a glow stck starter?

I know what it does!, I just think it is something not needed on a model when you are learning, it is another link to worry about.

you say it regulates the voltage to the rx? well you are running 4.8v or 6v battery pack, 4/5cells, so fully charged they will be fine, shouldnt need any regulating and will last quite a few flights without worrying about that. Use a battery monitor if worried.

Anyhow. As for wire to extend it, just find something similar in size, its only chucking 4.8/6v through it.

I was going to say, just get a glow starter and forget about the rest :D

Seems a bit over-complicated for a very simple model/engine combo.

Never ran a regulator on any of my engines, and don't think i ever saw anything similar on anything other that LMA stuff.

May just do the glow stick then, so the lipo battery that came with my regulator, also made by align, instead of the setup being

lipo batt > regulator> reciever

can I just do

lipo batt > reciever

with no risk of damaging the reciever?

Yes your RX will take 4.8/6v I use 6v on some models as most servos will cope with 4.8 or 6v fine. Also can make some servos a touch faster.

As for lipos, be aware of the dangers they can bring. I keep mine in a tin at home with bricks on top. Also make sure you are charging them correctly as instruction. They are dangerous things at times.

Iv been advised against using the lipo's directly in the reciever, im going to stick with my regulator I think, I got no reason at the moment to change

Going to mount my swich so I can get easily switch off the radio gear and start the engine from outside the plane with the wings on.

OK..Purchased some wire and terminal strips, could tonight be the night she fires?

Updates possibly later on. Plus no rain, the sun is shining, the weather is sweet now yeh :)

Well here is the video :)

I got it going, didnt really take a lot, I closed the carb, thumb over carb cylinder, few turns to prime the engine, glow plug on, ingition button on, a few took about 6-8 flips and away it went.

I only run half a tank through it for the moment, I havnt played about with the needle yet but by the last quarter of the tank there was fuel spitting out the exhaust, I heard this is what is supposed to happen when its running ok

There is a lot of plane vibration when I am idling, if I take it up a tiny notch, it doesnt vibrate hardly but you can tell its enough power to start pulling away. Does anyone know how I can get rid of that vibration? as it feels like its going to damage any joins etc.

EDIT: Sorry for the video being the wrong way round, for some reason as soon as they are uploaded to youtube it rotates :(:(

As for the vibration, hard to say, I have had Wot4's with engine mounted like yours and also upright. Have you mounted the engine mounts to the bulkhead with pre drilled holes, ie were they already there on the model ?

Depends on how bad the vibes are, really hard to say from the video. It could easily be a badly balanced prop, engine not mounted correctly and true with thrust lines, though thrust lines you wont really tell till its flying.

As long as everything is tight you should be fine. I use lock nucks, nylocks on lots of things like engines, even double nuts/nylocks at times.

How are the wings fixed on this version, is it bolts or rubber bands? just curious, anyhow, go and have fun, just dont bring it back in a 100 pieces :)

Have you seen a properly powered .40+ sized electric???

I sold all my nitro engines about 4 years ago, wouldn't go back if my life depended on it

Cept they sound rubbish and are boring, sure, they are awesome :p

Nitro all the way :D

Hi, sorry about the lack of updates, lol! had some training to do, exams to take/fail and now resitting again (no its not my pilots exam) ;) im too big to fly this thing although if anyone has a shrinking machine then by all means pass it over here :)

Not sure what the last update was, but I had a slight problem with elevator bar twist, which I have now corrected, so...this weeks tasks are:

1) Fit elevators back on
2) Fit elevator control rod
3) Wire in and fit the rudder control cable properly and attach to rudder
4) Run and tweak my engine properly as although its been started, it hasnt been tweaked properly (found a local club which im going to brave and take the thing down to get a check over on it)
