Afternoon OcUK'ers,

After hunting for a while I found a useful site called MyPlate that allows you to track what you've eaten and how many calories / how much fat, protein, carbs etc it contains.

Incredibly useful for those trying to keep tabs on what they eat, it also allows you to enter weight loss goals and activity levels and adjusts the amount of calories you want to stick to per day as a result.

http://www.livestrong.com/myplate/

Used it for about a week, seems good. Useful for not eating rubbish, because I know I'd lose some food I can eat later. My calorie goal is 1700 per day, based on my weight, height and how much I'm after losing per week.

Thought it may be useful, I know a few of you are after shedding a few pounds. :p

I use myfitnesspal also, thought about using the livestrong app but have to pay for it on Android (at least you did last time I looked).
Also endomondo and zombies, run!

I've been using Fitday since November 2009. It's rubbish. The site is slow and stops working frequently, and while other similar sites offer Android apps, Fitday only has an iOs app. I don't think I have the patience to manually re-enter my custom foods into another service; Fitday make you pay for a premium subscription in order to export your data.

Is myfitnesspal good enough to warrant the effort of setting everything up again?

IIRC there's hardly anything to setup, literally takes a few minutes.
With Fitday I had to add pretty much everything I eat to it manually, because it's an American site and they only eat imitation cheese over there. I'm not keen on going through the process again unless there's something to gain from it - a decent Android app would definitely make it worthwhile.

Myfitnesspal allows you to add custom foods, search for existing foods and scan barcodes.

I used to use myfitnesspal when it was important for me to get enough calories for my training - 4.5k is quite a lot and easy to underestimate.

Now, my diet is fairly stable as is my training, so I have little need to track what I eat as with my level of experience now I've got a pretty good handle on what I do eat.

However, for weight loss/gain recording of your food is vital - so I cannot commend you enough for doing this.

Also, it's quite interesting to track your food - it's quite enlightening.
