N64 - Is it worth buying one now?

Hmm, found the thread you were on about: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17524267

Fantastic if true, but I'm still skeptical, especially since there's no link. Like I said, I'm sure there were copyright issues over Goldeneye at the very least.

EDIT: In fact, it looks a whole lot like this list, which appears to be nothing more than a wish-list of games, not a certainty in the slightest.
Aww =[.

It might be worth it depending on what games you wanna get.

Super Smash Bros.
Legend of Zelda

These 2 games are a must :D

You could always get Mario 64 on the DS

A couple of the more obscure titles worth looking out for are Blast corps. by Rare and body harvest by DMA. Both excellent game once you get used to them.

You can actually emulate most of the games on the PC but I would recommend buying the console itself. When played on a high res screen the graphics don't hold up quite so well as a nice blury TV.

Goldeneye 4 way multiplayer ZOMG

Really? Got any links at all?

Last I read all Rare games were almost certinaly out, and Goldeneye definitely was because EA owns the rights to the film's name now. Would be a very happy man if this wasn't the case though.

EA might own the right to create a new game of the same name, but as publisher's of GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64, Nintendo still have certain IP rights.

n64 emulation has never been *quite* right. certainly its not worth bothering try to play 2 player on goldeneye or PD on the pc, its awful.

I've got a Hong Kong n64 that plays US games for that. 60hz for meeeeeee:p

Body harvest is a very good game, i couldnt get the hang of it when i first got it, but its a cracker!

I actually tested Body Harvest.
What an awful bag of cack !!!

Also the America stages are full of bugs because we (as a test department) were a bit slack :D

Rare published some of the games itself.. Jet Force Gemini (think thats the name) is one example that springs to mind. But Nintendo published Goldeneye, not too sure about Diddy Kong Racing, that game was amazing....

get any of those games (minus v-rally and warzone) and you'll be in for a treat. Easily the best console i've ever owned and all those games are simply stunning and had me hooked for years.

Body harvest, the controls and graphics are terrible. The various glitches and saving system just top it off. However once you get over that, it is a brilliant game. Infact I went back to it a few weeks ago and finaly completed it after buying it when it came out...

Games you should get:

Goldeneye
Super mario 64
Zelda Ocarina of time
Mario Kart 64
Blast corps
Body harvest
Space station silicon valley :D
Zelda Majoras mask
Jet force Gemini
Smash bros
Donkey Kong 64
Diddy kong racing
Conkers bad furday
Perfect dark
Banjo kazooie
Banjo tooie
F zero X
Star wars rogue sqaudron
Mystical ninja staring Geoman :D

(along with others I can't remember...)

All those games are fantastic, and considering it will only cost about £40 in total it is well worth it :)

It'd say it's worth it, the N64 provided me with more fun than the x360 ever will =\ :)

Funny that comment seeing as the 360 isnt dead and has lots of games that you and i dont even know about let alone played

How do you know what fun the 360 could provide you with in the future??

Oh you have a time machine right?? :D

Man, Goldeneye is the best FPS there ever was on a console, so much fun, for so many hours \o/ And the multi player... man I want my N64 and golden eye again :(

I still have goldeneye and lots of other games for my N64

For its time sure it "was" the best console FPS

However not now we have had better console FPS like Halo 2 and xbox live

Goldeneye is still in the top 10 however

The way you talk its like consoles arnt around anymore and nothing will ever get better then the N64 days lol

On the topic is it worth buying a N64 now? hummm if you have never played any of its top games maybe but i wouldnt pay anymore then £50 for one with a load of games
