Nagra 3

I smell a large rat considering you were theiving one minute then 44mins later your legit lol

Forum pressure succumbed to make yourself look legit

Smell what you like - I had already been phoned by VM just before Xmas offering the deal - at the time I didnt take it up. One 5-6 minute phone call changed that.

I don't give a monkeys if people think me a thief - I've done FAR worse than nicking TV channels

It's going to mean folks with the DVB-C cards will be pretty much useless now.(except AIUI, for the basic channels, but much less than Freeview offers(

How possible would it be to get a cable 'encoder' box to 'stream' DVB-C signals on a small house/village/street. A PC loaded with content -> DVB-C encoder -> ????? -> DVB-C receiver -> Own cable TV network?

I'm not sure about that but if you view the relevant forums you will find that there are alternative ways of streaming TV, the links are there but how good they are is personal taste.

There is a lot of action being taken to give users streamed TV

Sorry, just had a crysis - daughter had asthma attack. Sorted now.

crisis. Crysis is a game. Anyway hope she's OK now. I looked it up . You can get DVB_C encoders not sure on the cost, but could be feasible if a situation arose, as DVB-C tuner cards/boxes are relatively cheap. What other alternative would there be - Sat would be out, and broadcasting requires radio licenses etc to be useful.

That was a pun;) Yes she is okay thanks.

Looking at what you want to achieve is a bit more complicated than what I'm willing to invest my time in atm.
Having said that what is your aim? Getting ppl to 'subscribe' to a pseudo-local TV network? Thats interesting...

Was just theorising on what to do with (now/soon to be defunct) cable equipment/receivers. Most likely end up in the bin.

Any news on when Nagra 3 might be hitting Scotland?

I couldn't give a rats arse about TV tealeafs as they don't affect the service for everyone else.

Modem cloners on the other hand, I've got quite a few karate moves that I'd like to do with my keyboard on their empty skulls....they most definitely affect the service for everyone else.

Hope you are chasing the right Brucey:D. - I dont clone and never have. There are a hundred ways ppl rip the system, and many more ARE doing it. I think the cost of BB from VM is ridiculous but where are you going to get better?
Pll are ripping the system because they arnt happy with it, VM charge a fortune for BB and 50 meg prices are just insane. On a 10 meg connection I basically dont use it during the day for downloading due to their policy. 50 meg is the only way to get unlimited BB because all other package will throttle you stupid and have a tight limit - if you stream movies or have any other reason for high tranfers.
VM change there policy to maximise revenue - they know many users want high end packages (for illlegal use) and the rest dont use hardly any bandwidth. They WANT you to pay a premium for the fastest service and ppl do!

And here's me thinking that I pay through the nose for my 50mb connection because they want to recoup the costs involved in setting up the whole new DOCSIS 3 backbone. ;)

Ferraris are also expensive, does that mean you get to steal them?

One thing I've learned over the last 25 years with DMAC, D2Mac and a variety of CAMs is that when it needs to be done for monetary gain then it will be done.

It's not looking likely. Nagra 3 has been in use throughout Europe for nigh on 3 years and it still hasn't been cracked.

It's going to mean folks with the DVB-C cards will be pretty much useless now.(except AIUI, for the basic channels, but much less than Freeview offers(

That's the thing I'm annoyed about TBH, I spent ages getting my HTPC configured and set up with VM services, messing about with various CAMs etc until I found the perfect combo that works well. When I first built and set up my HTPC I was actually using my legit subbed VM viewing card. But I found that my particular tuner card and CAM work better with a Funcard ;)

I'm hoping a CAM will be released that is Nagra 3 compatible, even if it means using a legit card and a subscription.

I wholeheartedly agree.

As far as my BB connection goes I have always been legit. I'm happy to pay the monthly subscription for my 50mb connection.

Ahh good point. I forgot about that possibility. Sucks if you have multiple tuners though :( Unless some software connfiguration can share nag 3 cards.
