Naked motorcyclist sought by police

I think Guy Martin said it best when he said "The people that don't understand should just go back to mowing the lawn & leave us to it."

Did he say that in regards to riding like an idiot on public roads in the nude without protective gear, or riding on a closed road circuit with all the protective gear on and safety staff and organisations in place?

Being honest with you it was his reaction to being asked about deaths/dying whilst racing but I still think it fitting, The Nekkid Dude wasn't & wouldn't hurt anybody but himself considering where he was riding.

Yes. In regards to racing on closed circuits with as much safety equipment and personnel on site. And even then, as witnessed again this year at the IoMTT, it's not enough to stop people dying. But I agree with him. They know the risks for racing.

But riding like a nob (particularly with your nob out) is moronic. He didn't come off. But if he had... he would have been a mess. And even a slide along the road would have been enough to kill him due to leaving most of his skin hundreds of yards up said road. I wouldn't have such a problem with his actions if he'd been fully kitted up... at least he might survive if he'd come off at those speeds. Naked, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Every summer, round here takes off because it's Ballymoney, Dunlops hometown and the Armoy armada routes are just out into the country and the cops are few. You get boys on sports bikes tanking it between here, Ballycastle, Armoy and then up to the North West triangle for Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush.

It's inevitable that at some point during the summer you'll pass the emergency services tending to someone that's chucked a bike through a hedge on these routes or there's a sheet over someone. The common expression is "they've gone buck daft" when a bit of sun comes out.

Saw a young lad tear off up the alleyway opposite our house last night on a 125, with a marked astra not far behind, but unable to follow. Felt he'd missed out on something by not racing the police around a council estate naked tbh...
:D

If he was kitted up it wouldnt have the desired effect now would it.

If he came of it wouldnt effect you so why get so uptight about it, he did it for a laugh and most of us are laughing.

If he'd some off in that he was pretty much garuenteed death, though much be quite liberating!

I do find it funny that he's still bothering to wear boots though.

The only thing the police could do is to give him a caution for indecent exposure, though most likely just give him a good talking to.

Quite funny really.

If he was kitted up I'd have fully supported his choice to ride like a tit as he wasn't breaking any law and if he did come off, he'd be more likely to survive. Hell, if he'd been naked and potting around at 20 or 30 miles an hour and pulling a wheelie or two, it would have been quite funny, because if he came off at those speeds he might survive with a few broken bones and a severe case of road rash. At the speeds he's doing if he slid out or came off it would be death.

There's two types of people laughing. The ones laughing because they are other gormless idiots that would do something like this without taking into consideration other road users, their families or anyone else. Full of nothing but self centred arrogance in regards to their own ability on a bike. The others who are laughing are laughing because he's a tit doing something they wouldn't consider doing because they know it's stupid and they can't believe just how stupid he's being.

As for having an effect on "me". No. But it has an effect on the entire biker community. We already suffer enough persecution because of idiots who take to the road in the good weather for getting the knee down and riding like ******* idiots.

Sounds like someone has either fallen off naked....or cant get his knee down....

Now....i know it was a stupid thing to do....

however, the thing which makes this video very good and very funny. Is that he didn't fall off. He could have done. But he didn't. Which is why I find it funny, because im not looking into the what ifs im looking at what the video is showing me.

Good luck changing gear and putting all your weight on the pegs in your bare feet! Probably why he had the gloves on as well, I don't like riding without gloves even ignoring the safety bit, it just feels weird. Don't really like riding in trainers very much either.

Just because he didn't come off doesn't make what he did any less stupid. Or more funny. Which is my point. He's an idiot. For every rider like that, there's plenty more who end up as road kill because of an arrogant belief in their abilities as a motorcyclist. All the people left behind and affected by their arrogant belief in their abilities. The people who have to tend the scene of their arrogant belief in their abilities...

I used to ride balls to the wall when I was in my late teens and early twenties. ****, everyone does when they first get on a bike. But things happen that make you take stock of how you ride and the effect it has on others around you. In short, most people grow up. The childish actions of these types are what tar us all as motorcyclists.

Do you go around slagging off everyone willing to take more risk than you are for their own enjoyment or the entertainment of others? Maybe you should sit in doors and get meals on wheels, this should reduce the risk of injury to yourself and others significantly.

The top guys are hammering around the island at ~200mph, if they make a mistake, they can end up dead just as quickly or kill someone at the track side.

We all can all do silly things at any age.

I laugh at the video because it's funny. He didn't crash. And the what if...if he fell off and ended up dead, I'd laugh at the story on Darwin Awards because I'm a ****ing sicko :D

Lighten up and dismount the megahorse.

I found it funny :) Naked riding at the TT is pretty much a tradition though. You see it regularly on the Prom.....less so on the mountain course haha

Funny you should say that as a friend of mine is disabled from the chest down after a low speed slide on some grit that ended up with him breaking his back. Like I said, we do things and see things that make us grow up. Unfortunately some don't.

And like I said already. They do it knowing the risks WHILE they're fully kitted up in protective gear to help save them if they come off. With the full safety staff on duty. Not riding about buck naked at speeds where even a slide will cause traumatic bloodloss and most likely death.

Aye. There's doing silly things and there's being a tit.

My mate died a few years ago at 42mph fully kitted up, An old boy pulled out on him in a White Fiesta & he T boned him went over the top hit the car & broke his neck, Died instantly.
I don't understand why you are on such a Crusade Brian, With bikes/Bikers they take & accept the risk whether kitted up or not, It is there choice mate. ;)

I'm not on a crusade. Simply stating that riding at those speeds naked isn't funny. It's just plain stupid. He's an idiot.
