Yes. In regards to racing on closed circuits with as much safety equipment and personnel on site. And even then, as witnessed again this year at the IoMTT, it's not enough to stop people dying. But I agree with him. They know the risks for racing.
But riding like a nob (particularly with your nob out) is moronic. He didn't come off. But if he had... he would have been a mess. And even a slide along the road would have been enough to kill him due to leaving most of his skin hundreds of yards up said road. I wouldn't have such a problem with his actions if he'd been fully kitted up... at least he might survive if he'd come off at those speeds. Naked, he wouldn't stand a chance.
Every summer, round here takes off because it's Ballymoney, Dunlops hometown and the Armoy armada routes are just out into the country and the cops are few. You get boys on sports bikes tanking it between here, Ballycastle, Armoy and then up to the North West triangle for Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush.
It's inevitable that at some point during the summer you'll pass the emergency services tending to someone that's chucked a bike through a hedge on these routes or there's a sheet over someone. The common expression is "they've gone buck daft" when a bit of sun comes out.
