Amstrad CPC-464 was my very first computer. My parents got me one for Christmas and it came with a huge bundle of games, I remember dizzy and roland in the caves and roland on the ropes.
I had a huge stack of tapes all with games on it, used to sit there waiting for them to load…. It seemed like ages as well, only to remember getting load error, so you’d try again.
We also had a Commodore 64, but I never used it much….. In fact the Amstrad ended up being sold, no idea what happened to the Commodore 64. 1990 I got an Amiga, or 1989 or sometime around then, seems so long ago now.
The Amstrad CPC-464 was excellent at writing your own games, well copying lines of texts from magazines etc…… Remember coding in my own golf game, Amstrad games were also very cheap… lol £2.99 if I remember. Cousin had the same Amstrad as me but had a floppy drive instead of a tape drive.
Talk about a blast down memory lane. To be honest, it was a computer that I used mostly as a games machine. Wasn’t until I got an Amiga did I start to actually get into knowing how computers worked, but still… Excellent machine for its day.
