Name needed for gf's shop

Thanks for the input everyone.

So far her faves are:
The Dairy Works, The Yard, Shake Station and The Milkshake Factory, along with the other 1 we had before, Shake Break.

I'll probably make a survey soon to get input on which people prefer the most from those 5. Hopefully people wont mind me posting it here.

Personally I wouldn't go for any of them.

If it is focussing on milkshakes then I think it should definitely have the word shakes or milkshakes in it.

The Dairy Works sounds like a factory, The Yard, whilst a play on a song, is irrelevant (what about Polaroid Picture?:p), the other three are okay but I think you will be able to do better. Although it is quite tricky because generic type names are already in use. This might not necessarily be a problem based on location of competing businesses but I think it would be good to start with a brand that can be expanded in the future without any potential issues of conflict.

My favourite in the thread is probably Shake Shack but I'm not sure it's quite right.

What is your girlfriend's name? And does she have plans to develop in to other products? Has she any plans to make the business unique or is it pretty basic shake making?

EDIT: What about Rainbow Shakes? It would lend itself really well to colourful branding and maybe she could try and create a trademark multi coloured milkshake. :)

Yeah I do agree on involving "Shake" into the name. I thought of a way to combat this; I think most people would agree on first glance people need to know what a company is selling if that particular brand doesn't have a name behind it, so instead of playing just off of the name itself, if we incorporate something into the logo to make it obvious what it is we are selling, the name itself shouldn't be an issue, it also allows expansion onto other products in the future if for example she wanted to then start doing sundaes or whatever else.
I've got a friend who worked as a logo designer in London, and he has offered to help with the logo, menu's, posters and whatever else. So with his help, regardless of what the name is, we should be able to win people over with the first glance, simply with a well done logo which could be put on the Kiosk itself.

The plan is to be a cheaper ShakeAway, but with more actual flavoured shakes without simply blending chocolate bars with icecream and milk. I'm personally trying to work out a modest pricing system for them (ShakeAway is around £3.00 for a regular and £4.00 for a large), whilst giving them a premium flavour using proper ingredients. Whilst it's not exactly "different" (I think it's difficult to be much different from other establishments within this particular field) we certainly want customers to feel that the shakes we'd make would be hard to imitate at home for the price we are selling them for, which hopefully should give us an edge, although as I said, there is no competition in the area.

Currently we're looking at getting around 20 unique flavours, some which we hope people wouldn't normally associate with shakes but would be willing to give them a try, because some of them really are amazing.

I'll just throw a couple more in here anyway and I have no idea if they are already taken in the UK so could be a well known brand already.

  • Shakealishious (seems this one is taken which is a shame but I guess it was a bit obvious :().
  • Smashing Pasties (of course selling pasties as well would make this work a bit better ;), that or running a bordello in the back and serving shakes out the front ).
  • Butt Kicker Shakes (BKS - Should be able to come up with a nice little logo for that).
  • Newtaste Shakes (playing on the new unusual varieties).
  • Frothy fantasies (ok, a bit open to interpretation but could work).
  • Good Tastes.

Remember to check out domain names as well so you can get a basic website out and maybe a facebook page as I am told it is all the rage  :D. You may be surprised at how many good domain names are taken and just parked or held for resale which may cause a bit of an issue with getting a matching on-line presence.

20 unique flavours? Is that it?

There is a milkshake shop here that has over 100! Yes they are various chocolate bars etc as well as lots of other things and its always rammed, I don't think 20 offers enough for people to keep coming back.

Oh the name of the milkshake place is moo moo's. They also have a reward card stamp idea, might be worth considering.

Went for Shake Break for some reason.

I can see that working in a stylized font with glasses of milk included in the sign.

shakes, why did it have to be shakes.
