The 8gb ones look ok...

Even just for use as a bog standard portable drive type thing.

That's a Video, also it's possibly to be my fault, I can't say I haven't dropped it once or twice, was in a carry case though but still. Anyway every piece of kit has it's rotten apples :|
My spare iPod Mini is still kicking and that's been used absolutely loads!

The Nano can play Video with Rockbox, if you install it, I'd rather have a proper Apple iPod Nano than a knockoff anyday.

the 2nd gen cant be modified with rockbox yet, and prob wont for a while.

You can still get the 1g Nanos around quite often, especially eBay

rockbox is still in its infancy. it's riddled with bugs and poor battery life. While o put up with it because the sound quality is just amazing, its far from a finished product and i wouldnt recommend it to anybody.

My mate uses it on his Nano, battery life seems alright :eek:
