NAS Box

Its not for me chap, its for a low tech friend, I've tried to get him on a microserver but he doesn't want to put that much money into it....
I'll suggest he spends more but don't expect it to land...

I have this asustor Great nas. Didn't buy the remote as an app is available for apple / android, so I use that.

Hdmi works great to.

Great to hear mate. noise acceptable? Planning to have it plugged into the TV. Any essential Apps? I'll be moving my data HD from my pc to the NAS, I know it'll wipe the HD you use for initial set up but will it wipe both of them if you add a second? or will it just copy what's from HD1 to HD2? my plan is... install HD1, copy everything from Data drive to HD1, take data drive out of PC and put it in as HD2. would this work? (doesn't matter if it wipes just HD2 during install as I'll have copied everything to HD1 by then)

Thanks for the feedback.

Noise is find for mine, have it in a dedicated cinema room that I have in loft, although noise will always be determined by drives. I put a couple of WD 3tb reds in. Haven't tried one drive then adding a second.

I read a lot of synergy reviews and then went on to buffalo reviews and then one final buffalo review said their fav drive was the Asustor so went for that. Has a few apps but many thi utor and XBMC and backup is what I use. I think Virgin block things like couch potato.

If you install with one then add second later that's fine. It will allow you to add as a separate volume or build a raid 0 or 1 volume. It will wipe the second drive though.
