My qnap with 6x 12tb wd shucked (mix of types) sounds as expected ) not too noisy.

Need a new HD for the NAS, drives are still expensive, £160 for the 8TB and that's what I paid 6 years ago for 8TB!!!

Yeh they are but at the top end the price to TB is good. £233 for a 16TB EXOS Seagate X16 is a decent price.
Its the sort of thing that fluctuates, esp usb enclosures. Wait for a bit........... wd recently got hacked. Luckily I'm OK atm. 249 for 16tb is what I want to go down.

Ridiculous that this is still going around.. We're all going to be on 50tb hard drives and people still recalling there 'bad xp of the 1tb drive they purchased in 2015'.Keep an eye on seagate they have a bad rep. something that can read smart info. hwinfo64

So if the rep is so bad as you want to make out why are seagate still after all these years their drive of choice making up most of the pooled fleet?
