NAS Drives - Media Playback

I think this something to do with the AS5202T rather than the drives. I have one with two shucked WD Elements 18GB drives and they grumble for ages when powered up but the six 6TB Ironwolves in my AS6706T are barely noticable when they spin up or are in use.
My qnap with 6x 12tb wd shucked (mix of types) sounds as expected ) not too noisy.

Need a new HD for the NAS, drives are still expensive, £160 for the 8TB and that's what I paid 6 years ago for 8TB!!!
Its the sort of thing that fluctuates, esp usb enclosures. Wait for a bit........... wd recently got hacked. Luckily I'm OK atm. 249 for 16tb is what I want to go down.

Keep an eye on seagate they have a bad rep. something that can read smart info. hwinfo64 :-) other monitoring tool...
Ridiculous that this is still going around.. We're all going to be on 50tb hard drives and people still recalling there 'bad xp of the 1tb drive they purchased in 2015'.

If I stopping buying drives from manufacturers where iv had a failure I would be out of options.

Hence rep.
Lies, damn lies and failure rates.

I knew it was coming.
So if the rep is so bad as you want to make out why are seagate still after all these years their drive of choice making up most of the pooled fleet?

..hmm its almost like there is some nuiance to it rather than 'muh seagate bad'
