NAS Recomendations

Can anyone suggest a cheap NAS, i would prefer one that i can add my own hard drive to. Only other requirments is that it quite and not to power hungry.

Linksys NSLU2 ?

i have this act as web server+php and torrent download box using a 4GB USB Flash drive .

If you use the stock firmware you can attach a 2 port usb hub to port 1
and use up to 5 drives on it an once.
I have 3 drives on mine at the moment and its great

You could look at the Synology DS101 series? Packed with features.

another vote for Synology - I use a DS 101 g+

No problems to report

edit: mind you, the fan is noisy when it gets warm - maybe the newer Ds207 are better

its got to be lacie for me, ive got one of the new home edition 500gb nas boxes from them, its really quite good, its got gigabit as std and has a really cool feature where you can access the drive ( provided its on ) through a web browser... really handy when your pron is on the drive and your out on the road the other end of the country...
