National Geographic Front Cover

Typically payouts would be something like $200-500 but can be significantly less and sometimes more. Getty are moving towards A microstock format, selling more images for less money mostly because microstock is taking away getty's market.!

This. If you think about it, anything involving landscapes/structures/etc like this then anything more than say $1k would be pointless as you could just get your in-house photographer to go and get the same shot over a couple of days.

Holy carp that's amazing!

I'd love to be published by them, would be such an achievement.

Wow, that's fantastic!... great image, very painterly.

NG has some amazing photo images, so to be singled-out for the cover is quite something.

Nice work! I've been meaning to re-upload my images from the old Getty to the new one, just not had time yet :o

Thank you everyone :)

The agency told me about the magazine. As it was featured on their (the agency's) FB page.

My cut is a three figure sum (at the low end, not the high end), I'm not sure of the exact figure, I'll know at the next quarterly pay out.

Yeah, they normally license images at $500-1200 and pay out 20% or 40% (depending on exclusivity) but they sometimes license at much higher values, $10,000 etc.

Thir prices are dropping though becuase you could just go to shutter stock and get a huge selection of good images for a fraction of the price!

Yeah, nice work!

Especially on something that's been photographed so many billions of times, to get to the top of the pile - well done!.
