Nationwide FlexPlus price increase

You could get a HSBC Premier account if you earn enough. Though they recently upped the salary threshold from £75k to £100k. Gives you totally free travel insurance as a perk. And if you take the non paid credit card you also get accidental damage and extended warranty on purchases via domestic and general on everything you buy using that card.
Is that gross or net income? A suppose it’s net as they would want to see that amount come into your account on a regular bases..

Any update on this? Trips to Uk surely dont need insurance (unless its extreme activities)
not sure what you are after in a terms of an update? It all depends on who your insurance is with and what it covers and if UK holidays are covered.

For example the post office travel insurance:
Even if you're staying in the UK for your break, having holiday insurance will provide cover for lost, damaged or stolen possessions such as baggage, and cancellation, cutting your trip short or delay to your trip in some circumstances.

I just know that my bank's holiday insurance covers trips in the uk as well under the same terms of if it was an holiday aboard. Yeah you don't need medical cover but at the same time you may not need medical cover aboard if you have GHIC or EHIC...

£18 is still a good deal. Between me and my wife. She has used the mobile phone insurance twice, the breakdown twice for when her car didn’t start. I used the breakdown once recently, the travel insurance is very useful for us all and I do work abroad at least twice a year.

Thanks - so other than medical as you've highlighted :)

I wasnt even aware the FlexPlus covered family for mobile insurance too, I thought it was just worldwide travel (not inc. mobile)

Other half and I also have this as a joint account and have done for probably going on 10 years now.

Had a look round at other options taking things separately but £150 minimum for similar decent breakdown cover (Any car we are in or driving for both of us) takes up most of the yearly cost. The other options would potentially save us a few quid but overall it would take me a few hours to replace all the features so £228/year not entirely unreasonable.

Plus as a joint account we got 2x£100 for the last two years, so we're actually up £44 the last two, and would only costs £28 next year if the fairer share thing happens again at the same amount.

So will be keeping the account most likely.

I've looked at other options for phone and travel insurance and travel can be had cheaper if booking single trips but overall doesnt work out that much cheaper if I factor in a ski holiday each year plus a weekend break and 'summer' holiday for both me and my partner.

She has agreed to contribute towards the account which I didnt even know covered her for phone insurance too. Less hassle than moving and I now save £3 a month! (10 / 8 split) :D

This is similar to us - it's a pain that they've increased it like everything else just makes some sense to keep for the insurance.

I use this account and i broke down over christmas, breakdown cover with AA through nationwide gives you the whole hog. Car had a fuelling issue - you only get one recovery so decided to get my car towed 450 miles and a hire car to get home. Because of time of year i was worried about being stuck not getting fixed in time due to parts/xmas availability so decided to just get car home safe and worry about it later.

I dont think i can find a similar account that is as good - we are traveling to USA again this year so i think its worth it for us.
