Well, this might be just a waste of time thread but I just need some advice.

My hair is funny, when I wash it, using shampoo and conditioner, or shampoo or even just conditioner, when I dry it, it goes all....fluffy. Anyone else have this? So the only way to make it...not fluffy is to put lots n lots of wash, gel or any other hair products on it. I've recently started using a moulding cream, which is pretty good and holds my hair, but it stills makes it looks quite greasy as I need to put a lot on to keep it down. Thats what I dont want, I dont want a greasy look. I want a natural look. I want my hair to just sit, and not look fluffy. Also, when I use this cream stuff and want to like run my fingures through my hair to style it, it all bunches up and goes all weird aswell.

I just want my hair to sit and look natural, and not to go all puffy and fluffy whenever I wash it. Any tips on what I'm doing wrong or how to achieve this? Or is there any good products on the market to get a good look for my hair?

My hair isnt long, but its not very short...if that helps any.

I'm not obsessed with Oasis or anything, and I don't want to look like Liam Gallagher, but I kinda like the way his hair sits, its not fluffy, its not greasy...it just sits, so thats a kindof example of what I want to achieve.

American Crew Fiber...

It will let you do whatever you want with your hair, has a better hold than fudge and looks completely dry and natural.

Just wash your hair normally. Rub a pea sized amount in to your hands, then rub it all over your head. Done and dealt with. Trust me on this one. :)

i have john freida hair serum spray and find a small squirt of that does the job. spray above your head. then after a few seconds run your fingers through your hair to "comb" it through
its a ladies product but it does work

it's probably more to do with the way it's cut.

I use some Fish Cream/Wax style and protector (Navy Blue) for my hair when it gets long. I only use a tiny bit and it isn't greasy, holds my hair in place. You can get it from boots for about £5 or less.

I feel your pain. My hair goes all fluffy after I wash it too, it's REALLY annoying. I've tried different shampoos, using conditioner, even drying it with a hairdryer! Nothing works, it's awful. I find it's a lot less of a problem when it's short because then there isn't much hair to fluff up in the first place, but even after a few weeks it starts getting longer and the fluffiness comes back :( . I think I'm gonna have to give in and just start gelling it because I hate the way it looks after it's been washed (and not washing it is certainly not an option! :p ).

Conditioner makes your hair fluffy, so using it (or too much) will definately make things worse. Try just using shampoo, or at most a 2in1 for a week or so and see if you notice any difference.

I found it makes no difference, neither more or less fluffy.

I always thought it was the shampoo that make my hair more fluffy?

Conditioner still makes it fluffy, but I thought that the shampoo make it worse.

Thanks for the advice guys, some products here that i'll need to have a go using.

Any more ideas are welcome :)

Mellownatts, how do you get your hair thinned? Is it done specially by a stylist or something?

Do you think that its up to the way I have my hair cut, rather than the way I'm washing it, or the styling products I'm using on it??

Thanks all!

Same here, if i decide to use conditioner it seems to stay flatter to me. Yeh anyways I don't know owt about what people do with hair, i just have a shower at night so that i sleep on the fluffy hair so it goes flatter lol! :p

I found the best way to get rid of the fluffy look is to grow it long. Its now reached apoint where its pulled straight by its own weight :D
Bonus is that it annoys both the boss and the missus, triple whammy :D

My hair is pretty bad and fluffy if i just leave it after a wash, blow drying is pretty much a no go as it just makes things worse so i tend to just towel dry as much as i can till my hair is just 'damp' then jsut style with whatever. I used to have my hair pretty much pretty messy and outwards so the fluffiness didnt show up. I like the trevor sorbie products, both the wax and the moulding mud are pretty good. I've also been trying the bed head products, the hair candy stuff is pretty nice... smells absolutely amazing. wouldn't say its worth its price tag though, its runs out too quick :( im gonna try the manipulator stuff next and see how that goes.

I have been wearing my hair down recently though, and straightners are your friend :). I towel dry, use a tiny bot of wax, straighten, then any other product i fancy to finish it off.

Whats the fudge stuff like gordy? im wanting something with gives lots of texture and a pretty natural look.

I achieve that by doing the total opposite, number 0 all over. :D

See my post above about American Crew Fiber. Best stuff in the world if you don't want a greasy look. :)

where do you buy it from? and what kinda price are we looking at?

edit - gah people keep answering before i ask the questions :D

My hair is either very fluffy (just after washing it) or disgustingly greasy (a day or so after washing) so I tend to put a bit of VO5 Gel Wax in it these days. Takes the edge off the fluffiness and it isn't slick and horrible like some gels.

I use Fudge Matte Hed and I find it pretty good. I've also got a tub of Fiber which is unopened yet (Fudge is nearly done so will get to try it out soon). My stylist said both are very good products and give good results however Fudge stuff is a bit easier to apply - said that sometimes you have to really work the Fiber stuff before applying it to get the best results.

Best way to apply Fudge / Fiber is take a small amount and work it in your hands til it goes clear and then style lightly as desired. Best place online for male hair products is: http://www.mankind.co.uk .

I've made the bold step across to...girl hair products! Honestly, they're so much better.

I worship any product made by Sunsilk.
