There are already human invididuals that have the same genetic defect as those cows. However genetic engineering is a better route imo.

not all cancer is to do with genetics though, sometimes its environmental. Breeding people in the correct way may reduce risk of genetic diseases but it will not create immunitys to non-genetic diseases/conditions.

ahhh but you could continue to breed people to be immune to all sorts, just like certain plants have gone through natural selection and now can live on the **** heaps of copper mines, unlike others, although now they are incapable of living anywhere else with a lower Cu concentration.

You are probably thinking of Nazi Eugenics, perhaps the most terrible irony of the whole thing is that Hitler himself should have been caught by the programme.

They started off with some pretty flawed assumptions though.

They believed that the Aryan race was superior to all others, so should be the template for their übermensch. They automatically dismissed other races as inferior (although, as mentioned, Hitler himself didn't exactly make the grade for that, nor did Himmler or many of the other Nazi hierarchy).

if you look at it that way then infact the cows do 'want' more muscle. The ones with more are allowed to breed and pass on their genes and therefore 'survive'
