NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Might be a strange and boring question, but what's the boot like? Can you please take a picture, Hovis for scale or something?

TIA

Hi there

Those who have being following my thread will know a few months ago I installed BMR Vertical Spherical/Delrin links. Unfortunately 3-4 weeks later the car was creaking like an old ship wreck over road imperfections so most of the time on a UK road. The culprit was the delrin bush in the vertical link even though generous amounts of energy suspension lube was used it only kept the bush quiet for a matter of weeks.

BMR acknowledged the problem and sent out some spherical bushes free of charge all the way to the UK, absolutely brilliant customer service.

I dropped the vertical links along with new bushes off at Collins Performance in Congleton who pressed the new spherical bushes in place, even better free of charge, yet again more great customer service, so I gave the guy £20 to get some beers. :)

Installing the vertical links with spherical bushes either end is an absolute breeze, no trouble getting the bolts in at all, did each side in 20-30 minutes. :)

Also many people have asked me about my spring pad spacers to raise the height in rear and where they go, well below is an image, the spring pad spacer (purple) is between the cars body/chassis and spring pad isolator. Pictured below:

Of course the Vertical links I have put back on as they are much stronger and have benefits for launching and tractions out of corners, so as I had them it makes sense to use them. I shall report if the spherical bearings giving any issues at all, but I suspect they will operate in silence and so far so good on test drive, no noises. :)

Where did you get the spring pad spacers? Presume the sizings are somewhat universal? The rear of my MX5 could do with raising a tad, some 5mm spacers would work out great. BBR will sell me some taller springs for the rear but it starts to get pricier then :(

They are E46 spring pad spacers, I just had to make the inner diameter hole larger to fit. I went with 8mm pad which because of leverage ratio gives a 10-12mm height increase.

As popular as the MX5 is I am sure there is a solution try google and ebay searches for MX5 spring pad spacer.

Hi there

Though I am pretty damn happy with my gear box as shifts feel pretty great, though it can be a little to notchy particular in mornings and as the whole of the US seem to rave about how things improve so much when changing to a premium gear box fluid, I've gone with the fluid that seems to be an internet sensation.

I've also gone with diff fluid as well, I feel that on a new car and after a track day it is probably good practice to put fresh fluids in as quite a few reports of diff fluid in particular being black and full of metal shavings after 1000 miles.

As its easy to do and cost circa £125ish it just seems good practice and if I get half the improvement the US guys mention then great stuff if what already feels like a great shifting action improves further.

Here is the kit:

I shall report back on if the car feels different, positive or negative in any way after doing the fluid change in a couple of weeks. :)

Question.

How much of your mods / parts / consumables are from the UK?

Do you have to wait weeks for everything to arrive? What happens if a mod goes bank next week and renders that part useless, is the car then garaged until a replacement arrives or have you got contingency in place (original parts or whatever)?

Just curious as it seems you do a lot of waiting for stuff. Not sure I'd have the patience :D

All from US as cheaper even if I get stung for tax/duty!
Typical wait time 1-2 weeks, sometimes faster, other times slower.

If something fails I have all stock parts and am fairly handy with basic mechanics, did the rod bearings in my M3, fitted supercharger on my last Mustang, it is mostly just nuts and bolts. Issue is sometimes is working on a car outside can be annoying.

Ah cool, thanks for replying. I couldn't remember if you said you'd sold some of the original parts but that clears it up. Cheers!

Hi there

Well just to report on the stock vertical links my car handled nicely and had little to no wheel hop (axle tramp), but at times it would axle tramp marginally especially when just burying the throttle and smoking the tyres in first gear. :D

Well did a few pull offs in first today and simply buried the throttle without easing out, the car span the wheels but every time absolutely zero hop, car was silky smooth and so controllable and even better the car would eventually grip and just fly even in 1st.

So for me BMR CB005 cradle lockout, steeda differential bushing inserts (red) and BMR spherical/spherical vertical links have cured wheel hop completely on my car and with no added NVH, lets hope it stays that way. :)

Also I have FRPP dampers and Steeda ultralight springs which probably assist slightly though the above modifications certainly do the job and very well and cost under $500 for them all with discount codes. :)

Seen about 5 or 6 of these now, including a bright yellow one, and a bright red one. I think 4 (?) of them were V8's. :)

Still zero for me on the road. :(
Seen plenty at the Ford dealership but that don't count.

Seems I was however spotted this morning and the picture got posted to facebook with the comment p0rn and in love: :D
