NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

It's the same mule as spotted before with a 350 wing. It is supposedly the GT500 although you can't hear any induction noise but he doesn't exactly stomp the pedal either.

GT500 rumoured to have a twin turbo 5.2 FPC V8 using most of the same internals as the 350.

If we get it I shall switch order to that, I do not care if its turbo charged, AWD and auto, it will still sound like a V8 Mustang and it will still wag its tail like a crazy puppy.

In a dream world it would be supercharged 5.2 FPC V8 creating 750BHP with 10-speed auto as an option. RWD or AWD are both fine for me, though that amount of power stock could probably benefit from AWD. :)

I've got a feeling it will be turbocharged though, which is good for efficiency, not so great for noise but even turbochargers cannot quieten the growl of a V8 muscle car. :)

I can't place the order until mid-late next year anyway as the option is not yet available even on USA Mustangs, the rumour is it will come on MY18 cars and also a potential power increase as to 472BHP.

So of course if a GT350 UK option does come available in that time frame then yes I shall change to that (but manual puts me off), also lets not forget the new GT500 which looks to be a V8 twin turbo with 650 plus horsepower and potentially AWD, if that also comes to UK I shall just order that as that should have DCT option too. I am happy to drop upto 75k on the car and I cannot see them being more than 60k to be honest.

Are you sure that it is a Dual Clutch? The new 10 speed box (which is shared by GM and Ford) has a torque converter. Calling it Hydramatic is a bit of a giveaway.

What a complete waste of time, buying a 2015/2016 Mustang, doing all this work to it and blowing all this money on it, only to sell it for (I assume overall) a massive loss, to buy another Mustang, which in some ways will probably need adjustments to match your old one...

Why not just keep wrenching on what you have? Honestly... :p

More money than sense some people... ;)

If that is what it is, then fine, its an absolutely stunning box from what press have said so far and certainly a vast improvement over the current 6 speed offering which is slow and un-responsive.

Got another 2 years in it yet, so wrenching will continue and still plenty of fun to be had! What loss, they are fetching over 35k second hand with no mods, if I removed the mods I could sell them all for what I paid or for a profit due to value of pound collapsing.

Most things I will simply remove for next one, those I do not I can try different things next time around. :)

By the time they take my deposit to put my order in system which is still at least a year away I might change my mind as I've also registered my interest with TVR for their new car, so if that is something special and affordable that I take a liking too I shall go with that instead.

I am just making sure my name is at the top of the queue for one. :)

If GT500 becomes available in RHD I shall just order that and sell mine with all the mods on it for 40k or whatever its worth at the time, don't really care if I lose money, thats part of new car ownership, but Mustangs are holding value extremely well anyway. :)

no not really it's up to Gibbo, how much money he looses depends on what it's like in 2 years time

You have to remember, most people ordered their Mustangs over a year before it came here and there was little to no information on what the 2018 refresh would bring. It is only now that we are hearing rumours on what will be added to the car. Some of these changes are things that you can't do to the current Mustangs so it's not hard to conceive that people might want to upgrade their cars in two years time.

There's also the matter that actually, the Mustangs aren't going to make a massive loss so financially, it's perfectly plausible to upgrade. We have people here who buy Porsches and BMWs only to upgrade a couple of years down the line incurring greater losses.

Lastly, if the GT350/500 do come out here in RHD, then those would be a significant upgrade from a standard or even a modified Mustang. It would make perfect sense to just get one of those than spend lots of money modifying the current one.

What you're saying might make sense for another car but not for the Mustang.

that's the one to go for ! forget this other one next year because you don't need it do you..

Of course it is the one I shall order, if they make it available don't really care what the specification is, for me the only absolute must are V8 and automatic. :)

But the chances of UK/EU getting it are slim, this is Ford, though I would love to be in a GT500 come 2018, the reality is any Shelby product in RHD probably won't happen until 2020 or later.

End of the day the regular Mustang is not so bad, afterall for under 40k you can now get a fully spec'd brand new Mustang with just shy of 500BHP, still the absolute bargain of the century:

I wonder if they'll ever make a diesel Mustang... I hope not... But they've already put a 4 cylinder petrol in one for the first time in a long time!

isn't your current a manual? how comes you're going for auto next?

I prefer an auto for day to day driving, think its an age thing, used to be a full on manual guy, but with age that 3rd pedal is now just more an annoyance.

If I buy Porsche now I'd go PDK with sports plus, if I buy a BMW it would be DCT and if I went Jaguar I'd want the ZF 8-speed.

The manual in the Mustang is good, but simple fact is modern auto's are simply better than manuals, for me anyway I just prefer them as long as when you select manual mode and use the paddles they are responsive and engaging which pretty much all of the modern auto's are these days. :)

If I do not stick with Ford next car will either be a TVR (could be manual), R8 s-tronic, F-type AWD V8 Auto, so yeah I've gone to the dark side and being converted. Also the other option would be a Porsche 991 C4S PDK. But the Mustang with 10-speed auto is favourite at moment for when I change cars in a couple of years.

Don't be silly.

Diesel Mustang :D:D:D:D

the 2018 Challenger is AWD too but i've no idea what it looks like......all i know is:- it has a new engine and miles lighter/smaller, i think it's turbo V6????

this is because the Dodge Engineers are getting lots of complaints that the Challenger and Charger are way too heavy.........plus wont go around corners.........AND THIS IS FROM THE YANKS

do you think we'll get it over here ? no idea.......... i expect so

In 2013

Ford, as I am sure you know, unveiled the 2015 Mustang last week and it, like we presumed, will be offered with V6, a new 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

This is not where Ford is planning to stop with its powertrain options. Bob Fascetti, Ford’s powertrain boss, told GoAuto that the American automaker has pondered both diesel and hybrid variants of the world’s most iconic pony car.
“We’re not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options,” he revealed. “And diesel is one of those options, along with hybrids and electric.”
If an automaker says its not considering something like diesel at the moment but that it has considered it in general, you can believe that it’s absolutely seriously considering diesel. A diesel Mustang – especially for the global markets Ford aims to conquer with the Mustang – makes a lot of sense, especially given the increasingly stringent Federal fuel economy standards coming down the line.

Diesel is the most affordable option in the global markets outside the U.S.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want there to be a diesel Mustang, I think its a stupid idea. If you want a diesel Ford you buy a Mondeo, not a muscle car.
