Are they even worth bothering about now, do you even get money off a petrol bill with them is it even worth it?

Everytime you use a nectar card is what you purchased basically put in a huge database somewhere with your name on it ?

Its worth it if you use the group of shops all the time that gives you points... its a no brainer really.... if you can be bothered.

Yes they use the data to track every purchase you make then they hunt you down in your sleep and slit your throat if you step out of line by shopping at ASDA once a year.

I just got £5 off stuff at Sainsburys yesterday.

I don't make any real effort to collect points, I dont go out of my way, I just hand it over when getting fuel.

Not really worth it unless you regularly shop at Sainsburys, BP or Argos to be honest.
Oh damn! Can you get points when buying things from Argos?? I spent over £300 in there recently, would've got lots of points? :(

I used my points to pay for a £30 shop at Sainsbury's the other week :)

Definitely worth it, Its something for free and takes seconds to do. I have a local sainsburys(Less than 40 seconds from my home on foot) I'm in it every single day for 1 thing or another. So it makes a lot of sense for me to rack up the points

Petrol is the obvious accumulator for me, although BP tends to be more expensive than the others around here now.

No you can't earn in Argos, you can in Homebase though.

I convert all my Nectar points into Amazon gift vouchers, and use it to buy whatever I want from Amazon. Also used them to buy the odd thing from Argos.

Easy to collect and get money off at places so why wouldn't you collect?

We do pretty much all our food shopping in Sainsbury's so it's worth it for us. We usually then use the points to pay for the big christmas food shop.

It's totally worth it and it isn't just Sainsbury's you can accrue points with:

Amazon
eBay
Homebase
Debenhams
BP
AA
ELC
Argos
Currys...and so on!

I earn tons off Amazon as that's pretty much where we buy all our birthday and Christmas presents. Sainsbo's and other stores often have promotions, too, with extra points on certain goods and money off stuff.

I accumulate points and spend them on expedia!

If you've got an android or iphone phone you can download the nectar app and get bonus points on certain items. Works out quite well as approximately 100 points is the equivalent of 50p so having a 200 point bonus on buying a twin pack of chicken equates to about £1 off!

Definitely worth it. I rack up most of my points at Uni having a car I'm always giving people a lift to our local Sainsburys and as none of them have a Nectar card I use mine. Probably collect 500 points a week on shopping which isn't mine which is worth £2.50.
Also there are deals on the iPhone app that give you bonus points for buying certain items most of which I buy usually anyway.

I have nectar points worth about £30 at the moment. They are worth collecting if you would be making the purchases anyway. You don't get many points for petrol. I think it's 1 point - 1 litre so if you spend £30 on petrol, you would get just over 20 points so probably about 11-12p.

JUst started using one after years of not bothering to get one while visiting Homebase. Seems an OK loyalty card, there is even a plugin to gain pints on Internet searches
