Hi,

Ive decided to finally decided to upgrade my 19" samsung tft which has served me well for the past 3.5 years. I use my current monitor for mainly watching movies and the only game that i really play is cs.

I was thinking of this:

Has anyone got any first hand expierence with this monitor? Any other recommendations (preferably one with a 16:10 ratio)? My budget is £200-230ish.

Also i presume i wont be able to play cs at 800x600 anymore and if i can what would it look like?

its not the fact that my pc cant handle cs at a higher resolution its just a resolution that im used that ive been using since ive more or less started cs (its what im used to)..

amd 3200+ running at 2.4ghz
1gb ram
x800xl (which currently is fine for cs)

im not buying the monitor to play cs at a higher resolution i just want a bigger screen to watch movies on as my room at the moment is quite big and the 19" im using doesnt really cut it anymore..

I got a 2443bw last week. Bloody good monitor, really happy with it. Image quality is great. I've only gamed on it so far but the games just look great in comparison to my old CRT. I played some CS earlier and really didn't notice any input lag, it felt absolutely fine. Viewing angle is great too :)

Balls i thought i was set on buying the G2400WD for £229 inc delivery (from else where - also its not the same as the G2400W listed on ocuk)

Seems these samsung stats look better for the sameish price.

Will be watching this thread.

Sigh this is hard work isnt it!

edit:
This one has "- Height Adjustable stand with tilt & swivel" the swivel part i assume lets us use portrait mode with ease... big point to myself

I have been looking since xmas day just but dam, more than enough time i would have thought.

This model does not have HDMI, kind of something i personally would want for the ps3. Not sure if that helps any one here but seems a lot of people are connecting consoles up to monitors these days. HDMI -> DVI cable i guess at more cost

sigh again.

That is something I'd looked at but from an aesthetic point of view, I love the look of the Samsung. I already have a HDMi to DVI cable that I had for my AppleTV before I sold it, however, I don't currently have a PS3 or Xbox 360 so not really much of an issue for me at the moment.

I've just ordered the Samsung 2443BW :D

It's coming by DHL but since Northern Ireland is like the dark side of the moon I'm guessing the next day delivery won't be! Should have it by Wednesday. I'll post my thoughts after I get it up and running. Should be a nice step up from my 19" Viewsonic.

I am also in n.ireland what was the price for the DHL postage? Last time i bought here it was a bit on the pricey side to get things here (£40+ from memory) but this was through parcel force.

Just had a look at the order. Delivery was £13.99 and I think there was VAT to go on top. From memory there was an option for RMSD at £25.

is there any difference between this and the 2433bw?

edit: think the only difference is that the base doesnt tilt & swivel on the 2433

also does the 2443bw come with a dvi cable? if not can i use my current dvi cable that came with my 930bf?

Monitor arrived today. Looks like the DHL option is a 2 day service to NI and not the next day that City Link provided. Still costs as much though!!

Anyway. Monitor is great. Comes with the brightness way too high as others have said but that's easily fixed. Have it nicely calibrated using my Spyder and it looks great. :) Gaming is fantastic - was using a 19" Viewsonic and the difference is understandably huge.

Comes with standard cable, DVI cable, power lead (no external brick which is great), and software which I haven't looked at yet.

bank account £230 lighter :)

should i invest in a decent dvi cable or is it not worth it?

Not too sure as to the benefits of a better cable.
Hope you enjoy the monitor.

thanks :)

also just to confirm my x800xl will be enough for the monitor to work at its native resolution and also it wont be jerky when im watching movies (i know i wont be able to play games at that resolution)
