My lads 360 has RROD again. It's already been through the x-clamp and oven fix and lasted a good month or so before intermittent RROD but now it seems permanent.

I suggested the towel trick but I'm unsure how to do it or how likely to work it is. I did a quick google but there seems to be conflicting information out there so I thought I would open it up to you guys.

Any advice, suggestions or tales of your experience, with using Ford Prefects can't be without item for fixing the 360, appreciated.

Towl trick WILL NOT last long and COULD be a fire risk. I tried it on a 3rlod'er once and it worked for a couple of minutes before crashing and firing the lights off again.

If the oven fix didn't work i very much doubt the towel trick will. Both work on the same principal that heat will fix the broken connections to the motherboard but the towel trick is a far less... accurate way of achieving this.

I was able take mine apart and replace the X-plates on the back of the mobo in about 5 hours. And that included the time it took to go and get the parts :p Haven't had any problems yet :)

Nice attitude you got there.

He's telling the truth. 90% of this things in this forum could be found else where, Nothing wrong with asking though, For guides people have used.

As far as I'm aware though, Towel trick does what the oven trick does?

May be worth giving the oven trick another whirl

How long did you bake the Xbox in the oven for?

I found 3 minutes at 240 not long enough (which is the time suggested in a lot of places), mine worked after 5.

Plus if you've overtightened or undertightened the heatsinks it will fail again.
