Need a bit of FAN help

Good evening

I've been having some issues with controlling fan speeds.

I've got a Corsair H80i using latest version of Corsair Link. I can manually change the fan speeds of the fans on the radiator with no issues however I can't seem to change either of my chassis fans.

They're both Factal 120mm fans which came with the Define R5. I've tried them into various fan headers on my motherboard (Maximus VII Ranger) but they seem stuck at 650rpm (I've had this upto over 1500 on a previous motherboard)

Any ideas?

What are you using to change the fans, I assume you're doing it in the BIOS?
Are they PWM?

I've tried from both the BIOS (Setting them to 100% for testing) and also on Link. Yes, I believe they are PWM.

Official specs + reviews state that the Fractal Design R5 comes with two 140mm fans. And that their max RPM is 1000.

It's possible they used different fans for some batches, I suppose. Just wonder if investigating that discrepancy might lead to an answer/solution.

What I'd do is go into the BIOS and check the speed of the fans there. Increase it to maximum and see. Oops you did that already, got a bit distracted. What did the BIOS report as the speed on 100%?

Both fans were showing as 600rpm on max, I've had these fans on 1500 on a previous motherboard which baffles me.

Are you using the built in fan controller on the Fractal Design R5 case? If so there is 3 settings on the switch, inside the front door.

One of the fans is connected into the fan controller, I've changed the switch between the 3 settings and it doesn't appear to make any difference.

The other fan is connected to the CH_FAN3 header
