Hi guys,

As the best man I have been tasked with sorting out my best mate's stag do.
He wants to go to Amsterdam or Newquay.
When this was suggested to the group they are all of the opinion that newquay will probably end up more expensive.

When my mate was out of earshot they all convinced me that Prague was in fact a better place to go.
Having just got off the phone to my bro who has been to Amsterdam he is of the opinion that we should defo go there for the stag do.

So what advice can you offer me and also where the hell do I find somewhere to accomodate 15 - 20 blokes for a stag do ? lol

Oh might be worth mentioning this is the first time I have organised a holiday, talk about jumping in at the deep end lol.

Why the need to go abroad? That is going to make things expensive due to flights I'd have thought?

When I organised my friend's stag do, all we did was go down to Cardiff on the Friday. Get settled in the hotel, go out for a meal, get tanked up.

Saturday - go karting at around 11am, on to watch a rugby game in the afternoon, then out for a meal and to get tanked up again!

Sunday - drive home.

Nice and simple, worked out at about £120 each for a nice hotel, 2 in each room and all the costs of events. Drinks and food costs went on top of that.

Everyone had a fantastic time.

Wasn't it this forum where a guy was posting from Amsterdam and he'd lost his mate? The mate had left his passport in the hotel room and the OP was asking what he should do, either wait and miss the flight or just do one and leave the passport at reception.

We never did get closure on that :(

Anyway, sorry for the derail. If the groom wants to go to Amsterdam or Newquay I'm not sure suggesting Prague is a great idea?

We did:

Sorry for the delay in the update but good news Stumpy is alive and this is his side of the story!

so Stumpy and Simon were out living it up, Simon went back to the hotel because he was tired. Stumpy being the nutter he is decided to stay out and ended up meeting up with some locals and after afew hours he was invited back to there house.

He went back to the hotel to get Simons card for some beer because his card didnt work out there (simon knew this, and was lending him money the hole time he was there anyways) so after a lot of drinking and other illegal activites (not gay lol)

Stumpy awoke at 10am asking for directions back to the hotel only to be informed that he was 40miles away! so after racing tho the streets of Amsterdam trying to find the hotel as neither of them could remember where it was they met simon walking out of the hotel with Stumpys bags about to get on the bus to the airport!

Stumpy had a great night aparently! :) and just wishes he charged his phone.

Mate of mine had his in stratford-upon-avon, odd choice but there were plus points. Lots of nice pubs with good beer (bias on real ale), nice b&bs with a fry up in the morning, and (perhaps this doesn't always happen) we finished at the pub over the road from the theatre and Gandalf and doctor who were in.

If your feeling brave shoot up the A38 the morning after and hit alton towers.

I wouldn't recommend Newquay, I have been a few nights out there as I live an hour down the road and I usually find it a bit of a sausage-fest and a bit aggressive because of that.

Lithuania or Estonia Prauge was good in the day 5-6 years but now is just expensive. Lithuania is just awesome , very nice country also if your sober enough to see it

Easy, Praugue, 50p a pint, great place, great bars and titty bars.

Book in advance and get cheap flights. If you want the apartment details we used, let me know. Very cheap. The landlord owns two and can sleep I think 8 in each, next go each other, right in the centre.

I went to a stag do there last year, Go Ape in the Wyre forest and then to a great restaurant in Stratford in the evening followed by drinks... Was rather good actually.

Also done stag do's in Nottingham (Dog Track, actually pretty cool) Cambridge (Quad Karting, Quad Biking and then BBQ at the guys house in the evening)

Reality is that your out with your mates, anything will be good fun really !

I've just spent the last 5 days in Prague, its great. Not as cheap as some say though, cheapest we paid for beers was £1.30. Food is reasonable but stay away from the main squares etc otherwise food is pricey.

I'd deffo reccomend the place though and will definately be going back at some point. If you want an estimate of costs we paid £130 for flights, £50 per person for accomodation £50 for a 2 hour segway tour of the city and the rest went on beers, food and entertainement. All in from leaving home to arriving back I think it cost around £600.

My last trip to Newquay was in 2002 and I think that worked out about £100 a day but that was almost 10 years ago.

The 50p over there is long long gone! as I have said lithunia if you don't mind the cold, people really nice and beer and food is still pretty cheap . Just watch out for lith airways !!!!

Much appreciated with the comments so far guys, I think I better organise Amsterdam really being as the Groom wants to go there.

Are there any sites I should be looking at to find this holiday, I am useless with this sort of thing really as I have ac tually only been on one holiday myself.

Why he wanted me to sort this out I do not know *sigh* lol

Thanks again for the help folks :)

I've been on stag do's with the same bunch of lads to both Amsterdam and Prague and all the guys agreed Prague was better. Also we managed to find a local bar where it was about 50p a pint so it ain't a myth.

For those of you who have booked group holidays before, how do i go about getting prices so that people can make there minds up about whether or not they can afford it ?

Also normally would you pay the hotel/holiday company a deposit now and more later or all up front or what is the "norm" ?

Sorry for all the questions but as I have explained I have rather been thrown in at the deep-end here :(
