The point though is that if they had dropped something into a cylinder resulting in engine failure, they would be liable for resolution.

Whos to say they would tell you?

Could be a case of 'Oh well we found that down there in your engine, shouldnt be there'

If you want a 1.6, buy a 1.6, then it's not a mod.

Also, fitting the starter and alternator (hmm, copper parts) is nothing compared to dropping a motor in.

So much cheaper self servicing eh? This is exactly why (in addition to my laziness) that i never bother.

Majority of self servicing is fairly easy though I'm always paranoid when I change plugs out, it's fairly easy to mess up if you're slack handed.
