need a new gaming mouse - advise please

I recently switched from an MX518 to a Deathadder after having the MX518 for about 4 years.

The Deathadder is more expensive, but it's not better than the MX518. It just feels different. I'd say tracking performance is about the same (maybe the Deathadder edges it a little due to the MX518 having mouse correction), but I prefer the way the Deathadder fits in my hand. I use fingertip grip though, not palm.

Get another Deathadder, 4 years strong here and I've never wanted to use anything else, I tried a few other mice from friends from Roccat, Logitech etc and never found anything as good.

Even my £80 odd (during release) wireless Logitech Darkfield ratter can't compare to the MX518 for gaming. Wired is still the way to go.

Buying a gaming mouse is a big gamble for me personally, there are so many things that have to be right for it to be worth using.

I was on the lookout for a gaming mouse a few months back and bought a logitech MX518, hated it and sold it on as it felt like a huge egg in my hand and the butt of the mouse wouldn't allow fingertip/claw type grip.

Then I bought a deathadder, which had annoying life off distance so in the end I went back to my logitech Pilot optical :) I am thinking about getting a intellimouse optical though.

Logitech MX518

Don't need to spend anything more than the £30 one of those costs, and logitech has epic customer support.

When you say freaky hands, what do you mean exactly? :p i have very long skinny hands myself, best mouse i've ever had for feel was the steelseries ikari, but can't beat the mx518 for cheap and wonderfulness :)

Definately this.
Or the Ikari.

Both very ergonomic (which I see as the most important thing when looking for a mouse) and extremely cheap.

I just bought one - Razer Abyssus. It got three good reviews on here all vouching for its comfort which is most important to me. I can't be doing with 53 button things.

Another vote for MX518, bar far the best mouse I've had (had a lot) its old these days but was top of the line when it came out.

Would have said the Razer Abyssus but im regretting getting it now as although its fine (mostly) for gaming it's only got 3 buttons (left. right. middle mouse)

Quality wise it's nice but as others have said Logitech are probably your best best just for their amazing tech support, no other company comes close imo :)

so the mx518 gets my vote.

I actually ordered the Roccat Kone[+] from somewhere else at the same time as the Deathadder Respawn, as i wanted to see if its worth the hype.

I didn't like it....

The more i use the DA Respawn the more i love it and loving the corepad XL too. The mouse glides sooooo smooth on it. :D

Still using my MX500.
Feet are work, buttons are worn.
Needs a bit of cleaning more than anything else

Otherwise it still works perfectly, not felt the need to replace it.

Tried the Deathadder back in the day and found it tiny and uncomfortable for my rather big hands.

I used to be a massive MX518 fan, had three in a row - and the last one is still running nicely after three years.

However, I've since moved to a Razer Deathadder (respawn), and it's a fantastic mouse. Less pinky-pain after long sessions, nicer grip, nicer buttons - great for clawing, though the MX518 is better for palming. The only downside is that on-the-fly DPI-switching on the MX518 was much better. Still, I prefer the DA now :)
