My current setup:

Q6600 @ 3.6/3.8
2X 4870 GPUS
4GB OCZ 1066MHZ (2X 2GB)
Asus Rampage X48 (with soundcard)
Asus Silent Knight cooler
1X IDE DVD Burner
2X SATAII's HD's
1X IDE HD

My 600 OCZ GameXstream PSU can no longer cut it, half way through benching or gaming the system will switch off. Ive found a fix for now, unplug all case fans and 2 hard-drives and I seem to have enough juice again.

What can you guys advise me to upgrade to?

Cheers

PC Power Cooling 750W Quad CrossFire = 60A single rail ...hot diggity.

i'm surprised the 600w ocz can't keep up tbh

Small world, i've just ditched a 600watt OCZ PSU today, whilst it was silent it wasn't powerfull enough for my rig.

Over the past few days i've been going over loads of reviews on the internet, seems like i was set to spend £140 on an 750watt enermax.

Read a review of the Thermaltake ToughPower 850W and it gets a fantastic writeup, its hard to get a good capacity high ampage psu thats Modular for sub £140 but i feel i've done it with the ToughPower.

Mine is running the following without issue :

6600 & 3.8Ghz
IX38 Quad GT
4GB DDR2 (4 Sticks)
3x 120mm Noctua NF-P12
4x 80mm Lian-Li silent fans
2x 160GB Raptors
2x NEC DVD Writers
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
8800GTX Overclocked
Twin Loop Watercooling Setup (2x Pumps)

The PSU is totally silent, infact it doesn't seem to push much air at all, looks like its made my 6600 work at 4ghz n all so i'm happy :)

Its not blown up, works perfectly still, just shut's my PC down underload
Funny Guy! :)

Guess Ill less it on da bay
If you do make sure to inform potential buyers of the problems you were having otherwise you may ruin someone elses day.

Probably best to be sure whats up and if it is indeed the PSU do the right thing and RMA it back to supplier.

the toughpower series above 700w are very good.

PC power and cooling are of course awesome as well.

How many rails do you think I'll need

Hoping to get a PSU with 4 X 6 PIN PCI-E cables

Some will say 1 rail is good, others will say otherwise. It doesn't matter much really as long as you buy a well-known brand. I have a PC Power Cooling 750W and it has 2x6 and 2x8 PCI-E connectors.

Power & PC units are very good. :) You could also have a look at the 850 Enermax Galaxy DXX, that has dual 6 pin and Dual 8/6 pin GFX connectors.

Single rail F.T.W

I'm going to recommend the PSU I've just bought.

Corsair TX 750w. £70 comes with a 60a single rail. Absoloutely solid PSU and great for the price :)

Also has FOUR 8 (6+2) connectors.

Comes with a lot of cable ties. Easy to bunch them up and hide away. I used a lot of mine anyway :D

Such great value for money.

Sounds very good, but whats FOUR 8 (6+2) connectors, in short does that mean I will have 4X PCI-E 6 PIN connectors or not?

Edit: I think I understand now, 4X 6pin connectors which you can add another 2pins on if you want?

Yes it means you will have FOUR 6 pin which can also couple up to make FOUR 8 pins should you ever need it.

I too would recommend this, just purchased it, dead quite but the cables are a little unruly, nothing that cant be sorted out with cable ties.

You'll not get a better PSU for £70 if you're willing to put up with the lack of modular which is hardly a big deal then it's a steal at that price.
