I only use my Gemini for films and its more than enough at half gain and even that makes my wife feel sick and my doors vibrate
I found the Gem pretty weak when it came to giving that proper LFE feeling, but I was asking an awful lot of in in a 7m x 4m back back at my parents. Still a a capable little sub and would work in smaller rooms.
I'm just of the opinion now that make sure the sub can be sized for a larger room than you have, then you're never having to push it too hard and you can let it truly sing. The thing is, my x2 subs now are great in general use and hardly overpowering, it's only when I really crank up a Blu-Ray that you get that thud feeling in the chest.
Yeh I have been looking at the XTZ subs too, they look very well designed indeed with the 12.17 being at an attractive price point. Amazingly gloss finishes have no different command in price. 'Light' too at <30kg.
the 1X12 is the £675 sub isn't it?
aren't PSA subs all £1200+?!
Yes, amazing value for the new 12.17 and around £450 from Epic Home Cinema from what I remember. My partner would have preferred one of them as they come in white, but I had already got the 1x12s a few months previously.
Yep they are £675 new, but it would be interesting to hear one vs the new 12.17 to see if the price difference is justified.
Yep, seems they're even more expensive than when they first came over here. S1500 looks lovely, but expensive vs the US cost once you've factored in the importing and supplier mark up.
SVS are still great for the price, but I've been swayed by the XTZ bandwagon. Their Cinema Series speakers are something very special indeed, but then so are their more Hi-Fi floorstanding 99.36, M2 and very much so the Divine 100.33. Hoping to get some Divines for my front 3 speakers when I have enough cash over the course of the next year
Jag @ Epic Home Cinema does a great demo and is a thoroughly nice guy to boot. No sales BS, just lets the speakers do the talking.
