Hey,

I'm looking to upgrade my tower components only. I'm looking to upgrade because I'm bored of having low graphics and low fps on CS:GO. This is the only game i use my PC for so I would like to upgrade around that please - aiming to get 100+ fps on max settings. I currently get ~30-50fps on low.

My current specs are -

MSI FM2-A55M-E33 Motherboard
AMD A6-5400K Dual Core Processor @ 3.60Ghz
4Gb DDR3 Memory @ 1333MHz
Nvidia GTX 460 v2 Graphics card
Evo Labs 500w Power supply unit

I was looking at this O/C bundle - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/breeze-amd-990fx-overclocked-pro-gaming-bundle-bu-032-og.html

Would this be sufficient in getting what i want? Would i need to upgrade my gfx card as well or would my 460 be sufficient? I wouldn't be looking to do any overclocking myself, I've only chose this one as afaik CS:GO is cpu intensive.

I have a budget of say £400.

I'd appreciate the help, I'm so out the loop now on components.

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

With those builds would i need to get a heatsink and fan or do they come with one a stock one as standard??

Thanks for the help mate.

Im half tempted to build a 6600k rig for myself to be honest but I dont know if its really much of an upgrade at present from the 4690k. maybe later in the year when I plan on building my son a new rig ill get the 6600k and hell get the 4690k

also do you achieve decent fps with your build? what card have you got?

when I first built mine I was running with a 7950 which had carried over from the fx8350 build and yea I took a jump in fps even playing at higher settings.

Ive now got the gtx970 and to be honest I can max any game I play and still get 55fps upwards even on gtav

Thanks for your help mate. Went for this build, came to £412 with sunday delivery - finally i will have decent fps!

nice one. you shouldn't regret it. I know when I first bought the 4690k and board I wasnt expecting much of a difference compared to the fx8350 but after getting it built up and up and running I was impressed and was happy that I had made the jump.

I was using the same ram and gpu that I had been using on the fx8350 so nothing else had changed and I did notice a big difference.

coming from youre set up to the 4690k you will notice a big jump in performance.
through time drop in a new gpu card and you will have a super system.

I would definitely consider getting another PSU. If that Evo labs PSU is the one I've managed to find a load table for, it has a pathetic 22A (264W total) on the 12V rail...

According to Nvidia, the GTX 460 has a peak power drawer of 160W and the 4690K is an 88W chip before you overclock it. That adds up to ~250W before you add in hard drives etc.

Having looked at your other thread, the issues you've got with CS:GO could well be down to the operating system or a software clash. I would still get a better PSU though.
