Need advice on problem with new Graphics card

I know this is probably a really stupid question but what is a DSR and how would I go about it? (if it's not too much trouble answering that question).

The other thing: my old graphics card (radeon hd 4650) worked fine, could there be a software/hardware conflict that is effecting the new card that never effected the old one one bit?

FFS!

Have you checked the hard disk? Quite a long shot but worth it in my opinion.

Sounds like card is faulty. It has to be, what else could it be?

I installed my old graphics card back in and have had 0 problems with it which makes me think all the more it must have been a faulty card.

Looks like a faulty card then mate, from reading what you have done, it is sounding like the card is at fault. Get it RMA-ed and when you RMA it, tell them what apps and games it crashes in and what drivers you have tried and under what operating system. That way they can test under the same conditions that it crashes under and the pink and grey lines to me were a bad sign, looking like bad Vram or the GPU is not working correctly. Just make sure to give them all the conditions that make it crash or they will send it back as all good.

K cheers :)

Since I received it last tuesday, the 7 working days arn't up so I could DSR it.

What's the difference between DSR and RMA? Or can I DSR and RMA it?

Ultimately I don't really want my money back, I just want a working card, looking at the DSR thing on the OC support page it's a cancellation of the contract and I'd be given my money back. Basically, can I use my right to DSR in anyway concerning getting a working card rather than my cash back? or would it be easier to just RMA it?

Call them and ask, but if they find the card working under RMA they will charge you for testing it and sending it back. That is something you have to think about too. It could just be that card type does not like your system setup and will fall over no matter how many of the same card you try too. So you have to think about this too, it could be just a bad card and they will send you a new one that will work great. So have a think about what you want to do if you are willing to risk the card coming back all good and still causes you same problems or send it under DSR and buy something different.

Give them a call on Monday morning and explain the problems you are having and what you have done to try resolving it and the situation you are now stuck in and they maybe will advise you what to do and tell them your full system setup, because they may spot a problem that they know of with that card and your type of setup.

I understand you have a decent PSU, but have you tried running the card on another one or alternatively in somebody else's computer? Corsair units aren't totally immune to going bad, despite the likeliness of this happening compared to some other manufacturers being fairly low.

Running the card on another computer or PSU isn't a viable option for me unfortunately, if I had easy access to another computer or PSU that I could use i'd have already tried it. I only know one other person here at uni that has a desktop and I wouldn't want to mess it up trying to test out my g card.

My voltages are all fine and have never really experienced anything bad that could concern the PSU (or any other hardware in all honesty) before I put the card in. I realise the new card will eat up a fair bit more power than my old one, but if my PSU was going/has gone bad I'd have thought I'd have experienced some problems at least...?
