Need an alternative to TeamViewer

I've used TeamViewer for a number of years to solve PC issues with family members - this is purely personal use, to save me from driving round and sorting it out at their PC.

Have just built a new PC for my brother and needed to show him how to back it up but TeamViewer is accusing me of using it as a business and won't allow me to connect at all!

I use Remote Desktop on my own PCs but that's not suitable as I want to show family members how to solve their issues so they don't call me next time, and RD blanks their screen.

So... any suggestions for a (free) replacement for TeamViewer that would meet my needs?
 
I use VNC for my home use. Have a mix of Windows, Ubuntu and raspberry pi Devices which I use. Has a 5 device limit though for free account.
 
AnyDesk has been fine for me.
Though with any of these programs in this type of environment, show them (or write down) how to open it up on-demand and how to fully exit it, for security purposes.

I was pretty happy with Microsoft's Quick Assist until I found that you can't cut'n'paste anything... plain text or files :(

Had a go with google's Remote Desktop and that works really well and you can cut'n'paste text and files - so even happier, now :)
 
Cant help but TV said the same to me a few years back and wanted to charge a ridiculous amount ....uninstalled and never use them again was only connecting to 2 family pcs as well :(

You never used quick viewer? Potentially the person would launch team viewer quick support and the. You connect with the TeamViewer client with ID and Password still. When they close the app the pc can’t be connected too remotely.

On one pc I had to get them to click okay etc
On another pc I set it up to allow me access whenever I wanted.tv was set to start at boot,if there was a problem a phone call telling them (try turning it off the back on usually fixed it )
Then one day team viewer failed to work and customer service was rubbish
Don't nee them anymore as family got a bit more pc savvy now

There’s a self hosted remote management solution but you need to host it yourself. I’ve used it before and we may plan to deploy it where I work to save cost next year. It’s called tactile RMM.

There is no customer service from TeamViewer for 'free' users... you can't raise a ticket.
Hence this thread.
I gave them a suitably sarcastic feedback during uninstallation.

Got to recommend both MS Quick Assist (if you don't need cut'n'paste) and Google Remote Desktop (if you do)... they both work effortlessly :)

Again... many thanks for the pointers in this thread.

Same thing here trying to fix family computers in Cornwall from Cumbria. Uninsrtalled and screw them. I'd have paid a reasonable fee but they are just extracting the urine.
