need an ID on a plane

just seen a plane fly over pretty low that was a military plane which could be stationed at leeming or further, only way i can describe it is a Hercules with a longer body and 6 engines 3 on each side, been over twice now, any ideas

How big was it?

If it was say... utterly massive it could be the Antonov AN-225: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225

This is the only thing I can think of as well, the An-225 seems to be about the only contemporary 6 engine plane, google doesn't come up with anything else of note.

Aside from flying boats the only 6 prop I've found is the Convair B-36 and derivatives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_B-36

Which again was a massive aircraft and tbh doesn't look remotely like a fat Hercules. And is in fact retired.

Well some fuel tanks at a certain distance can be mistaken (without binoculars obviously).

Im simply saying its a possibility, especially for a military base, don't see why they would need such a huge hauler like the AN 255.

Of course all the AC130s are operated out of Lyneham so...
